Art Brut | in the crowd @ Siren (from all angles)

Eddie Argos always jumps into the crowd at shows, so why should the Siren Festival be any different? As photographers snapped away, Eddie not only jumped off the stage and in to the photo pit, but he even continued over the barricade and in to "general admission".

WHERE'S THE 'STACHE!!!

I took a video of this happening, and it's up on YouTube here:

The entire 'Modern Art' song is in the video... Eddie coming off the stage happens about halfway through. He was about three people to my left.

I find all the digital cameras at shows nowadays really annoying. Every one is turning into a Japanese tourist. Can't people focus on the actual show for once? That fourth pic really shows the problem.

What a gimmick this guy is.

Agree w/2:22. Does anyone just enjoy an experience directly anymore? Does something count if it isn't exhaustively documented? Do we exist if we don't have a flickr account/myspace page/blog (or scrapbook, for the lo-tech, home shopping folks)?

Perhaps the camera does indeed steal souls, and the most photographed are the most soul-less (Madonna, the last pope, any PotUS)????

I dunno. But, I like and appreciate this blog. Thanks, BV.

agreed. the fucking hyper-documentation of gadget-culture is obscene. photo-taking and filming is mistaken for direct experience. it isn't. it's valuable as a document. but when everyone's a documentarian, no one's really living in the moment as much as they think. of course there's no solution, and no going back. it's evolutionary at this point.

Or maybe some of us enjoy photography and capturing moments that we wish to remember years down the line. Sorry you don't feel that way, but then maybe /your/ hobby is the bane of /my/ existance.

Not that I disagree with you guys at all, because really, I don't but: Remember that Argos is standing in THE PRESS PIT.

I may not be British, but let me say that I have never felt more obligated to employ the word wankers before in my life. And that is what Art Brut is: a bunch of wankers. The band wanks on their instruments while the lead wanker does some Mark E. Smith impersonation all because mum and pop didn't give him his proper attention/butter biscuits and lucosade when he was a wee lad. He pulls this all off while looking like a Greek diner owner. Or is it just the way I see it? I think people are taking pics because they are in shock that people are buying this crap. I saw them at SXSW and I was really stoned. I was ready to love them. And at the end of it all, I was glad I wasn't 14 years old, cause I might have bought it then. That's when I employed my second most used British phrase: CRAP!

you're retarded go have fun and shut up

I know this is futile:

OK, fine. Bloggers get your shots with the SLRs. But can we please, please, please STOP IT WITH THE FUCKING CAMERA PHONE SNAPS?

Yeah dude, it didn't come out. No shit. Please stop trying to capture the band with your 1.2 megapixel, flash-less Nokia from 100 ft. away.

What's up with the black dude in the first picture. He must be security, I've seen that same look on many black security guys, you know that 'white people are crazy look'. c'mon nerds you know what I'm saying. Trust me I'm a brother that likes rock, I know.

"He pulls this all off while looking like a Greek diner owner."

WTF does his resemblence (when he has a 'stache) to a Greek diner owner have to do with anything? And since his surname ends in 'os', maybe he is of Greek descent.

We value your patronage, but not your patronizing.

Are you saying all Greek diner owners have moustaches?

Art Brut playing Irving Plaza on 10/19. Spinto Band opening. Not part of the We Are Scientists co-headlining tour but maybe that will change (or maybe they will be opening as 'Art Brut 47' once again)

Not only are Art Brut playing Irving Plaza, they're playing Warsaw with the Spinto Band on October 18th!
