CSS/Diplo/Bonde Do Role show @ Avalon cancelled

The Diplo/CSS/Bonde Do Role show at Avalon this Wednesday is cancelled. They say they didn't sell enough advanced tickets. Thursday at Warsaw is still on.

Thank GOD I got tickets for Philly. And that they're already all sold, so I don't have to worry about this god-awful scenario.

This sucks big time. I have complete trust in you, but is there a link to anything official? Ticketmaster is still selling tickets for the Avalon show.

I got word from Sub Pop: "It is now time to take a train to bummer city. Why? Because apparently the Avalon show has just been cancelled. ARGH! Really ridiculous, but the promoter hadn’t presold half of the tickets and pulled the plug."

Warsaw is a better venue anyway! Just go to that show.

I just called Avalon and they were not aware of any cancellation. The woman kept insisting the show is on. Warsaw is a decent place, but the sound is terrible.

warsaw fucking sucks in comparison

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2006 3:58 PM

Well, if they made it easier to buy tickets to a show, maybe they would sell a lot better. Either pay $10+ with fees online or shlepp to the Irving Plaza box office during a lunch break.

DAMMIT!

quicherbitchin, eat a pierogie, have some kielbasa, and have some Polish beers. If you think that place sucks you need your head examined.

Yakshieeemash!!

Totally agree with musicsnobbery. Five of my friends were going to buy tickets at the door because they did not want to pay Ticketmaster fees and Irving Plaza was out of their way. Why don't these idiot promoters/venues offer will call tickets online without service fees instead of feeding Ticketmaster.

"Why don't these idiot promoters/venues offer will call tickets online without service fees instead of feeding Ticketmaster"

becase the idiot promoters we're talking about here are Clear Channel.

by the way, this show is definitely cancelled.

WTF!!! I've been waiting for this all week!!!! I hope this is a joke!!! Bring back the DIP

Posted by Jackie Ferrer | July 18, 2006 4:19 PM

it's just as well, CSS are one trick pony and will be out the door in no time

Posted by yay | July 18, 2006 4:24 PM

why not use bowery presents to promote?

"Five of my friends were going to buy tickets at the door"

I think a lot of the people who'd be there were going to buy at the door.

Thank you yay for enlightening us. I will get rid of my CD, which I've been enjoying so much, immediately.

It would be really, really nice of them if they accepted Avalon tix at the Warsaw. Instead of going to Irving Plaza, getting a refund, buying a new ticket.

It might encourage me to go to the Warsaw gig instead of shrugging the whole thing off.

I just checked out the live nation website. Tickets already purchased for the Avalon show will be honored at Warsaw on the 20th.

just called avalon and show is cancelled. she said to call back tomorrow to see if they are going to reschedule the show, otherwise you can probably call ticketmaster for a refund...but if they are honoring avalon tix at warsaw then F*&% the refund.

What are the odds they'll do this for one of the three $58.20w/fees Massive Attack shows?

[TM also give you an option to add a donation of $1, for *another* $.05 fee, which would make it $59.25].

"why not use bowery presents to promote?"

if only it was that easy...Windish, who books Diplo, probably took the inflated Live Nation deal and got fucked in the end. they'll still get 1/2 the fee for doing nothing so i guess they win. Bowery, not having a contract with a venue of that size, would have to pay a HUGE rental fee to someone out there...bad business. what about Webster Hall you say? well this show is, from my understanding, equal parts band and dj...Webster has to clear out later in the night for the Jersey Trash to roll in.

the reason Bowery Presents is so good is they treat every band equally, paying a set percentage of the door...no guarantees, thats why they almost never cancel a show for "low ticket sales". if they lose a show to Live Nation, its all good, all the credible agents of mid-sized talent go to Bowery Presents first...who dominate all the mid-sized rooms.

Viva le Jomo & Senor Beach!

Thanks, JR.

FUCK!!!!

am i fucked if i actually did act like an idiot and buy the tickets online from ticketmaster.com?

is it possible to wave my receipt at the door at warsaw because i did not fuckin spend 30 bucks for nothing.

that's right, no guarantees and there by no reason to promote if the show is not selling. try being a band that can't get something from the person you sold your show to. or get blackballed if you don't play for them again. sound familar to any other bands out there?

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2006 8:53 PM

why are these acts booked at such huge venues???

Posted by nick | July 19, 2006 12:50 AM

"Warsaw is a better venue anyway!"

Are you serious? The sound is terrible at Warsaw, but I do like having food. The staff is also nice.

Plus, it's all the way in Brooklyn!

Posted by Anonymous | July 19, 2006 10:25 AM

you would have to be a fool to pay 20 bucks for this show! i think that explains why its been cancelled.

i won tickets for wednesday nite on WNYU...i wonder if they will tranfer my name to the guestlist for thursday nite? shitty.

Posted by chalmers | July 19, 2006 2:38 PM

i called ticketmaster today...and they said that the "will call" list will be moved to the new venue
