Live Nation gets into the merch business

"Artist merchandise is a large segment of the live business [that] we have never been in, and we believe with the amount of tours we produce globally, the venues we own and festivals [we produce], that this segment represents a new area of growth and services we can provide the artist," Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino tells Billboard.biz.

Is Live Nation turning into a monopoly? Its over when they start selling their own tickets, wait, are they a part of ticketmaster?

live nation grew out of clear channel, which has a monopoly over radio and live music venues. they even just bought house of blues, becoming the biggest live music venue promotions companies in the country. for shame dan akroyd...for shame.
