We thought Sufjan Stevens wasn't playing anymore non-festival shows this year. We were wrong.

"For the first time in over a year, Sufjan Stevens is going on tour, bringing with him a talented group of musicians and friends including a small string ensemble and brass section. They will perform a repertoire of familiar songs from Seven Swans, Michigan and Illinois in a new symphonic context. The tour will bring Sufjan and his ensemble to some of the country’s finest theaters, including Nashville’s esteemed Ryman and Los Angeles’ historic Wiltern."

Supporting the tour will be My Brightest Diamond, a moniker for the talented singer-songwriter Shara Worden. Shara has toured extensively in Sufjan’s band, appears on his recordings, and is often his right-hand woman. Shara is also a close friend, creative peer and Brooklyn neighbor to Sufjan.
The pomp and pageantry of the previous Illinoismakers tour will be augmented by a nuance, mastery and sophistication of talented new players. But don’t expect to see any cheerleading uniforms or routines. Suit coats, neckties and corsages might be more appropriate; but we aren’t about to issue a dress code.
Sufjan would also like to take this opportunity on tour to debut you a few new pieces.

Town Hall is a Ticketmaster venue; no sign of an on-sale date on their site, though.

Philly venue should read "Tower Theatre," according to P'fork.

nice venue, as those who made the trek down 95 for Radiohead last month will attest; however, expect really pricey tix.

(indie promoter) R5 brings in Mogwai, Sonic Youth, Boredoms w/Lightning Bolt, and Sleater-Kinney this summer, and yet... we're at the mercy of the LiveNation/Ticketmaster cartel for Sufjan? WTF!?

i know there is a presale for the milwaukee tickets early next week, and they will go on sale to the general public friday the 14th. i'd keep an eye out for tix on sale soon for the other cities...

I got two front row center for Town Hall on the Saturday. Don't know who the 2nd ticket is for yet as am moving to the US for study in August. Reckon I'll use it as way of making some new friends.

Hi I just tried to buy and couldn't get... if anyone got an extra pair for Saturday night's I'd very much appreciate it. Me and this girl I know are HUMONGOUS fans and would love this chance...

Saturday night is my only night cuz I observe Sabbath... I would prolly tape the gig if that's any consolation.

Seriously.... I need to see Sufjan. I'd even settle for Tower Theater.... it's worth the 2 hours... did it for Radiohead badck when they did Camden.... it's a long ride but what the hell.

Oh my god... this ducatking site is sold out. I will be so fucking pissed if I missed out on all tickets. I really hope they were only selling the initial presale tickets and not all of them... but I see none listed on the venue's site or ticketmaster...

It seemed like the only tickets you had the option to purchase were orchestra.

Also, on the Asthmatic Kitty site it says the presale doesn't start until July 15th. That's sort of cruel to post the wrong date.

does anyone know if sufjan is going to be playing at austin city limts too? since those two days he's going to be in austin fall in the three day festival time window. gosh, I'd love it if he played acl too, because I don't know if I have time/money to see him after attending acl.

how do you find out about advance ticket sales? i checked almost every day and totally missed out on the presale for the town hall dates. i want to make sure i'm on the right mailing list if more dates go onsale. is the best news update from sufjan.ducatking.com? i signed up for ticket alert on ticketmaster as well as the mailing list for asthmatic kitty and heard nothing via email when the tickets went on sale for either presale or regular sale. very annoying!!!
