The Jesus Lizard to play Touch & Go Festival?
Some people seem to believe that the Jesus Lizard may join the already stellar lineup of Touch & Go's 25th Anniversary Celebration happening in Chicago this September. On The Download writes, "Touch and Go's 25th anniversary party in Chicago, September 8-10, has confirmed a mini-set by Big Black -- plus a full one by Shellac -- as well as all-orig-members reuions by the Didjits, Girls Against Boys, and Scratch Acid, the band that begat the Jesus Lizard. A Jesus Lizard reunion isn't out of the question, either."

Chicago needs to share the wealth.

Even better, The Ex are playing. Any chance they would swing by NYC? Any promoters willing to convince them to stop in NYC too? Todd P, it sounds right up your alley......

can't the Necros play. I mean Corey was in the band and they were touch & go #1 (hello sex drive!). either way I'm going!

am i the only one hoping for a seam reunion?

Seam are listed on there. !!! and CocoRosie are going to seem even more lame than they usually are when playing in that line up.

The Ex have played NYC quite regularly over the past few years. I can't imagine how that would be better than seeing the Jesus Lizard. Plus the last show The Ex played kind of blowed because they played a limited number of old songs and stuck mainly to their last album. Even Mission of Burma plays a crap load of old stuf and their new albums are actually good.

Once Seam was announced for this festival I had to go, during college I wore out my tape of "The Problem With Me". Here's hoping that the Jesus Lizard or TV On the Radio ends up playing as well.

The other big rumor: Naked Raygun. They weren't a T&G band back in the day, but their reissues are on T&G subsidiary Quarterstick, and most of the classic lineup will be there already with other bands. Oh please, oh please.... Either way, it's already the best festival lineup I've ever seen.

I agree with Hal. I think it's either Naked Raygun or Jesus Lizard. All I have to say is thank goodness I'm going. The lineup is pretty amazing for such a steal ($35 gets you a pass for all three days). I've been giddy ever since I heard Big Black is going to perform a few songs.

It seems TVOTR and T&G aren't on good terms:
---
"Before the band finished recording the album, a rift developed between it and Touch & Go, the label that put out three releases for them, including Desperate Babes and the hauntingly stellar EP Young Liars. Malone called the split “acrimamible,” pointing to some ambivalent circumstances.
As the band was severing its ties to Touch & Go, Interscope came a courting. “It was sorta like: We went on a date with them, and then we talked for a while, and we started going out again. But it was weird because we were still living with our lover,” said Malone. “And we knew that it was over, but…” Eventually the band signed with the major, but an extended negotiation for the band’s new material has meant that Return to Cookie Mountain’s U.S. release will be at least a month later than everywhere else."

I'm pretty sure "acrimamible" isn't a word. But that's a really damn funny interview.

If only all recording artists and their record labels could break up as sweetly as The Donnas and Atlantic did.

What? No Urge Overkill?

I think it would be in corey's best interest to leave the stage open for the band that made all of this possible---- RAPEMAN!! if i could hear them before the world goes up in flames than i would be a very happy man. concur? touch and go is the best label and its nice they are doing this.

25th band announcement and gobs of other info
Body: Ok, its time to clear the air. We never meant for it to come to this. It started innocently enough: rolling out parts of the line up, dropping a surprise here, announcing a band reunion there. 25 bands will play, we said, yet we only listed 24. Well let you know soon, we said, but no word came. Cue the rumor mill: Slint, Rapeman, Necros, Mekons, et al. If we had a nickel for every person who was absolutely sure number 25 was The Jesus Lizard, Touch and Go would now be located on a private island in the South Pacific. We wanted to stop the gossip, but it seems this internet thing is world wide (and apparently isnt lauded for fact-checking). So we just sat back and watched it happen. Let the kids talk, we said. Well announce number 25 when were ready.
Well, were ready, and were proud as hell to introduce the final addition to the Touch and Go 25th Anniversary Block Party: legendary D.C. punks The Monorchid. If you were lucky enough to catch them during their brief lifespan (1996-1998), youre probably still reeling from the impact. If this is your first time, you might want to strap on a helmet. And maybe some shoulder pads.
In addition to the current lineup, we have invited a number of our artists to do some solo and duo performances in between the 25 full-band performances. The list of artists include: Sally Timms, PW Long, Tim Midgett and Andy Cohen (Silkworm), Brick Layer Cake, Cash Audio, Tara Jane ONeil, and Jon & Kat (Mekons and The Ex). See below for the detailed lineup schedule for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 8-10.
Over the past two-and-a-half decades, Touch and Go / Quarterstick has represented a diverse group of musicians and musical styles. Though we genuinely hope all of those planning on attending the 25th Anniversary can make it out for all three days to experience this diversity, we understand the reality of busy summer schedules and will be offering a limited number of single-day tickets that go on sale Friday, August 18. Individual day passes will be available for $15 through Ticketweb. If the block party is not sold out in advance, 3-day passes will be available at the gate on Friday for $45, and single day tickets will be sold at the gate each day for $20. Also, 3-day passes are available now and through September 7 at the Hideout during their regular business hours. Click here to go directly to the Ticketweb event page.
Daily list of performers. Not listed in actual scheduled order of appearance. Performers subject to change without notice.
