Deny it and supply it

Posted by fartknocker | July 14, 2006 5:45 AM

They are still The Who, just as Duke Ellington's Orchestra was still Duke Ellington's Orchestra through all the lineup changes.

As Pete says, "The Who" is a brand, and tens of thousands of fans are more than willing to pay hundreds of dollars to see them.

Pete and Roger are two founding members of the band, they're playing songs that they created, and the spirits of John & Keith are with them onstage.

So, basically, fuck off.

spare me. perhaps paul and ringo should tour as the beatles.

These are the guys that do the CSI themes, right ? oh and the Hummer commercial & that other car commercial & oh and that other one with like a horse or a dog...yet they wouldnt let Michael Moore use "Wont get fooled Again" for Fahrenheit 9/11
You know using your songs for a few commercials is ok if you do it once or twice.. I guess & you've been around forever ..but selling half your catalog away to advertisers and TV shows is just lame...so is continuing to tour only a few days after one the founding members DIES...and Pete we havent forgotton about your kiddie porn "research" ! ...theres alot of filler on Who's Next

Posted by JT | July 14, 2006 9:57 AM

Agree with all the above except one:

there is NO filler on Who's Next.

Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2006 10:04 AM

There's no filler on Who's Next.

There's nothing wrong with selling your songs to TV: as classic rock dies, it's one of the few ways for a band can keep its music alive.

There's nothing wrong with not letting Michael Moore use "Won't Get Fooled Again" as a political statement, especially because Townshend's original message was about not taking sides.

Paul and Ringo is a bad comparison, but if people wanted to buy tickets, those guys can do what they want.

And have fun dwelling on the porn thing as Pete, cleared of all charges, moves on with his life, touring the world, playing for hundreds of thousands of fans.

They still rock, life is short, and Chuck Berry is 79.

so yeah, fuck off.

Tour will be called "Who's Left?", sources say

Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2006 1:39 PM

actually, Roger Daltrey (lead singer) and Pete Townshend (main songwriter & lead guitarist) are left.

Posted by DrJimmy | July 14, 2006 1:55 PM

I wonder if Pete will be watching kiddy porn back stage? Sick, sick man!

Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2006 2:13 PM

I wonder if you have anything close to his talent & success.

I also wonder if he'll ever spend any of his time wondering about YOUR life.

Posted by DrJimmy | July 14, 2006 3:02 PM

Pete was actually arrested a couple of years ago in a kiddie porn sting. look it up. He is talented and also preverted.

Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2006 3:28 PM

He was cleared of all charges, he never downloaded anything. Look it up.

Oh, and everyone is "perverted," the word has no meaning.

Posted by DrJimmy | July 14, 2006 4:06 PM

Wow, fans of The Who are worse then the band's music. Who knew?

Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2006 5:05 PM

Townshend and Daltrey should form a supergroup with McCartney and Ringo. Perfect fit.

Posted by Zach | July 14, 2006 5:45 PM

Neil Young had no problem taking sides (Michael Moore used Rockin' in the free world) ...& he still makes good music and far as I know has no connection to child porn....
cant wait to see Ol' Pete on "Dateline"
Boo ya !

Posted by meyou | July 14, 2006 6:23 PM

actually didnt Ringo's son, Zach plays drums for The Who a few years ago ? hmmmmmm

Posted by meyou | July 14, 2006 6:24 PM

Zach Starkey still plays for The Who.

Good for Neil lending his song, it doesn't make him better or worse than Townshend.

Actually, it was Townshend himself who suggested that Moore use Neil's song.

Neil's last couple albums were NOT good. The Who's total catalogue is way better than Neil's, there's no contest.

Pete's house and computers were searched thoroughly and found to have NO child porn whatsoever. Nobody has searched Neil's house.

Posted by DrJimmy | July 14, 2006 6:35 PM

"Neil's last couple albums were NOT good. The Who's total catalogue is way better than Neil's, there's no contest."

as opposed to the who's last two albums? at least neil young is trying to stay relevant.

Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2006 7:43 PM

why would someone NEED to search Neil's house ? do you work for Petet Townsend or something ?

God I cant even remember The Who's last record.....was it "Its Hard"
back in the 80's ?

Give me The Creation over The Who anyday

Posted by R K | July 14, 2006 9:54 PM

**He was cleared of all charges**

No. He entered into the equivalent of a settlement agreement with British authorities. As a result, he's listed for at least another couple of years on a sex offenders' registry.

**he never downloaded anything.**

True finding. But that, apparently, wasn't his only problematic conduct.

**Look it up.**

Look it up.

Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2006 11:49 PM

Dude, he was cleared of all charges. You can't say "no," it's a fact.

Posted by DrJimmy | July 15, 2006 7:00 AM

"In 2003 Townshend received a police caution after acknowledging a solitary paid access of a child pornography website in 1999. He claimed in the press and on his website to have been engaged in research for "A Different Bomb" (a now abandoned book based on an anti-child pornography essay published on his website) and his autobiography. He was added to the British list of registered sex offenders for five years."

it would suck to be "cleared of all charges" and then be forced to register as a sex offender. i love the guy but you gotta admit that his "research" excuse was a tad peculiar.

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2006 7:24 AM

I believe Pete, I'm done with it, and you're spending your idle time thinking about kiddie porn. Have fun with that.

Posted by DrJimmy | July 15, 2006 12:56 PM

DrJimmy's idol is a kid-toucher, and he's 16.
Match made in heaven.

Saw them tonight in Boston. Great show! It is among the most powerful, classic, and unique rock music ever conceived. Townshend is a genius.
