UCB comedy happened @ Summerstage last night
TODD BARRY @ SUMMERSTAGE | JULY 19, 2006

Not long before Jens Lekman did a Todd Barry impression at Mercury Lounge (He said he loves to listen to Todd's CD to relax on planes), Todd Barry himself was performing with Aziz Ansari, the Snapple lady, Paul Scheer, Rob Huebel and others farther uptown at the annual free UCB meets Summerstage event in Central Park. More pictures like the above @ The Apiary.
Cokane's bloggery says "Aziz Ansari told a great story about the most off the chain concert he's ever been to (R. Kelly, natch)"
P.S. I can't believe Flight of the Conchords just played at Mo Pitkins.

Flight of the Conchords were great. It was my first time seeing them. I believe it was all old songs. I caught the Tuesday show at Mo Pitkin's. Todd Barry opened for them. I left in the middle of Todd's set at summerstage, but it started off the same as his set from the night before.
Flight of the Conchords also played Crash Test on Monday. Did anyone catch that?

The Conchords also played Aziz's show Crash Test at UCB on Monday night. They did three songs, including "Jenny" and "Humans are Dead." They were pretty awesome.

what the hell?
JD SALINGER WAS THERE?!?!

Does anyone if that was actually him?
I wasn't sure if it was just a joke.

totally not him

There were rumors here and there that Davey Cross was to perform at this... did he?

I think thats the joke. That he is such a recluse that no one knows what the hell he looks like....

Salinger wasn't there. It would be ALL over the web if it were true.
Or maybe he's been so reclusive, everyone forgot about him? Dammit!

This was a great show, but the advertisments claimed people like Jon Benjamin, David Cross, Amy Poehler, Demetri Martin, and Slovin & Allen, and none of them were there. What gives?
As far as I can see it really was Salinger, unless it was one of those alternative comedy bits that absolutely NO ONE understood, because there were no jokes or nothing funny about his appearance except that he was there. hmmm
Todd Barry was awesome, so was everyone else pretty much. Gotta love a closing performance by the Tite Brothers

It wasn't JD Salinger. There are a couple actual photos of him from the late 90s out there, and he looked older then than the dude who was at the park.
Also, didn't UCB do a sketch for their TV show with a fake Salinger in it?

Flight of the Conchords are playing the opening night shows at the new comedy club Comix.

Unforuntely however, at $32.50, tickets are ridiculously expensive.
