100 Tickets released for tonight's Phoenix show
Looks like the Camel reps didn't give out as many tickets as planned. Phoenix just sent out a message that 100 tickets are now available for the show at Bowery Ballroom tonight (August 7, 2006). Nothing is on Ticketweb at the moment. You may just have to get them at the door.

I know this is a goddamned longshot, but I lost my wallet during lunch and have no way to get a ticket to this. I have no cash, no cards, nothin. Anyone have an extra $15 they'd like to use to treat me to a ticket?

dudes and dudettes, brooklynvegan rules my school. finding tickets at bars was clearly too annoying to even attempt, so this announcement totally made my day! hooray!

I'd rather be in Phoenix tonight than catch Phoenix tonight.

Saw them at Maxwell's last night and that was SICK. Stoked I got tickets for tonight since the next time they're here is $23 at Webster Hall... this may be the last of their smaller NY shows.

Looks like the Camel reps ended up giving away TOO MANY tix, as the Bowery stopped letting people in at approx. 9:30pm. There was still a line around the block. I've never seen so many forlorn hipsters in one place.

Anyone else find it ironic that a cigarette company is holding a promotional event at a space where it is illegal to use their product? I guess they don't have much of a choice. Yesterday's show was good but had a strange corporate vibe to it - their May show at Bowery was definitely more fun.

i was at the front where some dumb girl lit up a cigarette right under the lead singer, but it was not too long before some bowery bouncer dude pushed his way thru and made her put it out. prolly cos she was smoking a parliament and not a camel...

how much money did camel have to throw in phoenix's faces to make the branding worth their while?
it didn't look like they got too much out of it, other than, what, a miniscule ticket subsidy for their fans? or was it those rinky dink colored lights that shined in our eyes all night? (an identical unit was lighting up the camel billboard on the left side of the ballroom). or was it the cheapo art school banner that hung up beind them?
maybe in france taking money from cigarette companies is par for the course. but in america allowing them to use your music and image to make cigarette smoking look sexy makes you look like a complete asshole and corporate tool par excellence.

maybe in america being self-righteous and humorless makes you sound like a toolbag par excellence.

Countless people were sent to the guillotine so that people in France today could have the right to smoke. So smoking is the least they could do to honor those who gave their lives.

maybe in france taking money from fast food restaurants is par for the course. but in america allowing them to use your music and image to make being fat look sexy makes you look like a complete asshole and corporate tool par excellence.
