2006 ANTIFOLK FESTIVAL
The 2006 Antifolk Festival begins in NYC this Saturday (August 12, 2006) "with an outdoor show in Tompkins Square Park from noon to 5 and continues with nine days of shows at Sidewalk Cafe. Suzanne Vega will play both in the park and at Sidewalk. Chris Barron is doing a show. Jason Trachtenberg is on the bill as are some of the standout acts from the Antifolk world like Beat the Devil, Ching Chong Song, Don McCloskey, Paleface, etc."

Regina Spektor is playing Town Hall. Kimya Dawson is a mommy. Jason Trachtenburg hates cell phones. Jaymay is in the news. Suzanne Vega recently played on Ground Zero.

I noticed she was featured in the Cargo distro ad in Artrocker recently. No doubt the UK will catch on first.

Has anyone gone before? I'm trying to figure out if Ihave to be at Sidewalk a long time before the shows. There's not much seating/indoor room there.

Good to get there early. The shows start at 7 or 7:30, depending on the night. If, say, you want to get a seat for Jason Trachtenberg's show at 11 on Sunday, you should probably get there during one of the earlier sets in the evening to assure a seat. You'll also get to hear some other good artists.
