They played the Bowery Ballroom back in May:

Yes, Layne Staley is dead. They have another frontman. I heard he was pretty good in his own right at the Bowery.

I assume Jerry will do the majority of the singing though. Jerry was always a singer in Alice in Chains, wrote some of the songs (Rooster is about his dad), and sounds quite a bit like Layne in his second solo CD, Degradation Trip.

I'm not saying this will compare to seeing Alice in Chains with Layne. He was amazing, and even did good stuff without AiC (everyone should listen to the CD by his side project Mad Season, titled Above). But still, it'll be a good show - I've seen Jerry solo and he's still able to rock (he had a guy who looked like Hendrix singing some of Layne's parts at that show, which was cool).

Jerry does not sing a majority of it at all. They have a singer. I have been 3 times so far this year and the show is unbelievable. I went to the Heart debacle in AC back in April, and Bowery in NYC, and the PA musikfest. Checking them out again in AC Oct 28, and NYC Nov 1 & 2.
Better than most shows out there, no special effects, just pure intensity.

With absolute and undevided respect for one of the greatest and most influential rock singers in music history (PERIOD), I am thrilled at the idea of Jerry, Mike, and Sean collaborating again and look forward to some kick-ass music in the future. Rock on guys!
