no, the double post was not a glitch. it was for emphasis.

wow.

panic > bloc party
when will people realize how bad silent alarm is?
Posted by nick | August 24, 2006 3:25 PM
dude, you are an idiot. how can anyone say Panic! is better than Bloc Party. First of all their music is nothing alike, and second Panic! fans are maybe 12 years old.
Posted by Anonymous | August 24, 2006 3:35 PM
who the heck is Panic! at the Disco?
Posted by Anonymous | August 24, 2006 3:39 PM
panic! at the disco is a supergroup featuring members of the smiths, kc and the sunshine band, and !!!
Posted by matt | August 24, 2006 3:44 PM
is it really official??? when is it going to be on sale and where??? keep posted..... honestly panic is a good band but way to different to bloc party.... it doesn't sound good at all together..... the concert is going to be full of 12 year old kids and us.....that's going to be weird/..... please tell me this is not going to be the beggining of a future sell out from bloc party... that would be painful..........
Posted by davelas | August 24, 2006 3:46 PM
what a stupid idea...those bands don't have similar fanbases at all
Posted by Anonymous | August 24, 2006 3:59 PM
by then the new album should be out...this can't be how they plan on promoting it.
to call them sell-outs would be an understatement.

Panic! at the Crisco
Posted by musicsnobbery | August 24, 2006 4:09 PM
holy shit. i can't believe this band is that fucking big. and i thought that the yeahyeahyeahs were overrated!
Posted by Anonymous | August 24, 2006 4:09 PM
This show will be an Amex cardholder event ONLY. No tickets will be available to the general public.
(PSYCHE!)

matt, if I could favorite comments, that'd be a keeper.
Posted by jerry | August 24, 2006 4:17 PM
It's only Bloc Party, who cares? What was really depressing was The Dresden Dolls opening for PANIC.
12 year old emo kids versus 17 year olds trying to be indie by worshipping a band still trying to live off the glory of their ONE overrated, forgettable 2 year old album? Sounds like fun.
Posted by Bort | August 24, 2006 4:21 PM
This makes me so sad.
Posted by Bryan | August 24, 2006 4:25 PM
uh, dresden dolls released a new album in april, tough guy.
Posted by ondal | August 24, 2006 4:38 PM
wake up... both of these bands make tired knock-off ear-slop and are made up of nothing but sissy twats. Watching people argue the relative merits of Schlock Party and Panic at the Disco is like watching a posse of retards yammer on about whether poop tastes better than vomit.
Posted by c | August 24, 2006 4:51 PM
panic! is barely noticed in the states. perhaps bloc party is unaware of panic!'s suck status, being that they're british and all...
Posted by Anonymous | August 24, 2006 4:53 PM
panic at the disco sold out 3 nights at brixton academy, 4th night likely to sell out soon.
Posted by ondal | August 24, 2006 4:55 PM
good charlotte, young love, pink spiders...also on tour with each other.
panic! is making tons of 12-year olds & approx. up to 20-year-old fans and bloc party just needed to hop on that ride of fans. Those kids are the ones buying the tickets on ticketmaster.
and I assure you there will be some 21 and over crowd at the bar
Posted by raizza | August 24, 2006 5:03 PM
Nobody drinks at Bloc Party shows anyhow.
Posted by jerry | August 24, 2006 5:07 PM
hispanic! at the disco! omgawd I wish I could witness the crowd confusion.
Posted by Mica | August 24, 2006 6:14 PM
I love the outrage
Nothing like a bunch of whining indie fans
Quit yer crying and head back to the salvation army to go buy another shirt.

i am not a hipster. and i am not a hipster in denial. actually, i don't think anyone who is actually, honestly indie likes bloc party. bloc party's not indie anymore. i more or less just like shaking my rump and bloc's good for that.
also, i've been doin the thrift thing since i was a kid. it's not called being trendy. it's called living in poverty. also, i hate that everything in that damn store is double what it used to be. i might as well buy new clothes without the sweat stains and deodorant marks, now. so much for a deal.
Posted by Anonymous | August 24, 2006 7:32 PM
"uh, dresden dolls released a new album in april, tough guy."
Yeah, I was talking about Bloc Party, tough guy. Why should we care about Bloc Party touring with Panic? The Dresden Dolls touring with them was infinitely more offensive.
Posted by Bort | August 24, 2006 7:48 PM
Bloc Party sold out a long time ago. Any band that makes you pay to be on their mailing list sucks corporate balls.
Posted by Andy | August 24, 2006 7:56 PM
to me, it was never about selling out. it was about keeping crappy company and being crappy by association.
i never got an indie vibe from bloc party and i never felt like they were committed to being apart of something authentic or underground. they're just some kids playing around on some guitars. they seem content with that.
Posted by Anonymous | August 24, 2006 8:46 PM
All the kids at the emo boards are going "Who the fuck is Bloc Party?"
Posted by I don't know either... | August 24, 2006 8:59 PM
t0tally!! lol i just technorati'ed Panic! at teh Disco to figure out who this band is opening for them! r they any good?
a/s/l plz!!!
Posted by Anonymous | August 24, 2006 11:17 PM
Yes, this is bad but no comparison to Dresden Dolls suffering through a shitty tour with the kiddies...is there a trend here? Ash "opening" for The Bravery, Placebo "co-headlining/opening" for She Wants Revenge, SONIC PHUCKIN YOUTH "co-headlining/opening for" YYY, PEARL JAM, actually them opening for anybody is phuckin joke, and it goes on and on........
Posted by B | August 24, 2006 11:23 PM
"panic at the disco sold out 3 nights at brixton academy, 4th night likely to sell out soon."
Tell them to keep them, we won't mind, they can be the house band.
Selling out Brixton has gotten less prestigious, HARD-FI sold out 5 nights... and a london sell out is really just a touts orgy
Posted by B | August 24, 2006 11:27 PM
bloc party did a pretty high profile saturn commercial. i think they are just perfect for opening up for pan-dick at the disco. and please don't tell me how the money they got went to a good cause or some such bullshit. this is the same band who charges their fans a fee to get their tickets early. wanna fight?
Posted by cranky | August 25, 2006 10:19 AM
uh, so is poop better than vomit? or the other way around?
Posted by Anonymous | August 25, 2006 10:40 AM
i've always been partial to vomit.
but that's just me.
Posted by Anonymous | August 25, 2006 10:42 AM
it wasn't a fee to get early tix. it was a fee for their fan membership. part of the BENEFITS of having that membership was early access to the tix. really though, for 3 bucks you got 30 unreleased and/or remixed songs and a few from some lesser known bands. there's also access to "fan only" concerts and there's some other bull on there, too. but anyway, it's 3 damn dollars. it's not 50, you cheap bastard.
but ONCE AGAIN, bloc party's not indie. i just don't think they care enough to be. they're simply a band that's better than panic! and that's the only reason why they shouldn't be touring with them.
Posted by Anonymous | August 25, 2006 10:48 AM
I hear everybody that you know is more relevant than everybody that I know.
Posted by david. | August 25, 2006 11:21 AM
sorry kids, but while you were busy swooning over tapes 'n tapes, bloc party got popular. the fan bases aren't nearly so different as you'd like to think. and i hate to be that guy, but bloc party really really really aren't that good, so, you know, chill. besides, "i write sins not tragedies" = total #1 summer jam. seriously.

Ever heard of Godwin's Law?
I think we should all officially institute a ban on using any reference to "Losing My Edge" in the comments section of a music blog, for the simple reason that it's far too easy, kinda like mentioning Hitler and Nazis on a message board to prove a point. Um, yeah.

Posting a link to a Wikipedia article has jumped the shark.

somone fucking shoot me. this is just too fucked up. and why would bloc party agree to this. im sure 12 year olds wont fucking enjoy price of gas or this modern love.
Posted by Anonymous | August 27, 2006 9:36 PM
What the fuck is your fucking problem you fucking cunt faces. Why must you insist on liking a band just because it's the coolest thing to do? Yes im talking to you panic panic ''fans''.
You have ruined the band with the most inspiration, and best sound in years for me. Now they will be loved by teenage girls all over america just because one of their songs might be on the radio. Either that or they will say, Hmm... The lead singer of bloc party is cute. I think Ill say i like this band!
FUCK YOU PANIC AT THE DISCO. FUCK YOU MAINSTREAM WHORES.
And yes I am very pissed off. Bloc party had a great thing going.
Posted by fuck panic | August 28, 2006 6:36 PM
Anybody have any info about the presale on Friday?
Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2006 7:42 PM
Why all the bitterness? Panic! at the disco is kind of my guilty pleasure. I can't wait to see them live I'm sure the energy is going to be awesome and it'll be alot of fun. I like them simply because they're music puts me in a good mood instead of the usual emo screamo I hate the world just kill me shit. It's as simple as that. Maybe I'll be the only 19 year old there but hey atleast I'll have a good view over all the kiddies.
Posted by Crystal! | August 28, 2006 8:46 PM
Oh yeah, Bloc Party and all the other bands Brooklyn Vegan posts about are "the usual emo screamo I hate the world just kill me shit" and Panic! At the Disco are the only alternative to them.
