Brooklyn gov. giving away free Iron & Wine tickets?
"Council Member Reyna is pleased to offer the Brooklyn community tickets to the IRON & WINE concert WITH SPECIAL GUESTS LOW and CALIFONE tonight at McCarren Park Pool. The tickets are FREE for you." (thx Megan!)

I guess ticket sales weren't too strong...a little backlash against the $40+ ticket price after fees perhaps?

I caught Iron & Wine at Lolla and was very surprised at great they sounded outdoors. That said, $40 is WAY too much, so if you can go fo' free, do it.

These bands should be playing Town Hall or something nice and seated especially at that ticket price...aesthetically speaking it just seems like a dumb idea to have 3 quiet bands at a huge outdoor space like this , then to charge a ton when there have been great free shows all summer makes little sense...
Iron & Wine & Low don't even have new records out...

did anyone catch the pick up address?

only band worth seeing in that line up is Low. I saw
sammy beam at maxwell's and fucking snored. a bloodless and sedated performance; no urgency.

i'm living viacriously through keith (mr. 4 tix.) i still might end my "horribly shitty day in my horribly shitty office job" by shelling out the 40 some odd bucks to catch the iron & wine set because i'm that much of a pussy. do you think you can buy tix there?
Posted by minwin | August 17, 2006 2:57 PM
i wasn't going because of the price but once low and califone were added i thought that the price was pretty fair... and it sounds like it shouldn't be too crowded
