Free Neko Case tickets (set times?) & other stuff To Do
Neko Case, Joanna Newsom, and Martha Wainwright are playing one of the $$$$ shows at McCarren Pool in Brooklyn tonight (Aug 24, 2006). Joanna Newsom goes on second, and I think at 7pm (I guess be there by 6 if you want to definitely catch Martha). The government is giving away tickets again ("must be able to prove residency in zip codes 11211, 11206, 11221, 11385" this time) (thx Bao).
Also tonight in Williamsburg, and most likely late enough to do after Neko: Flipper @ Northsix
Also tonight: The My Brightest Diamond CD release party at the Spiegeltent.
Also tonight: The Roots & Moby @ Crobar
Also tonight: Jennifer O'Connor's CD release party @ Joe's Pub
Also tonight: Tokyo Police Club @ The Annex (midnight). They're in town to open for Ted Leo at the Seaport tomorrow. Meg & Dia are also playing The Annex @ 8.

Damn it...damn the fact that I'm not a Brooklyn resident. I'll probably end up buying a ticket anyway...anyone know of a way around this?

Now this is clearly a bribe for votes.
Damn my 11205 rep! Where are you when I need you? Any hipster/hassid wanna take me?

How do they ask you to prove that you are a resident.

I live a couple of blocks away from her office. I would go for free, but there is no way I am missing Pissed Jeans and Flipper at Northsix.

Anyone know the exact set times...ideally when neko case will go on? I was thinking 8:30 - 8:45 like Bloc Party and Sonic Youth but wanted to know if anyone knows for sure. Thanks!

The pool falls under the juristriction of this council member. Why would another council member have tickets?

The Pool is in the fightin' 33rd. She's represents the fightin' 34th.
Unless someone has differnt info than I do.

my ticket says RAIN OR SHINE. only thing that could stop it is an electrical storm or something like that

My mom always made me get out of the pool if she heard thunder. And I had to stay out of the pool for 30 minutes after eating or drinking beer.

rain or shine on the tickets. but this rain seems to be pretty heavy

The rain here in Astoria was over by 5:30 PM. What happened rainwise at McCarren Park? I'm a big Neko Case fan, but between not wanting to get a ticket in advance because it might rain, the high ticket price and the good chance (in my estimation) of crappy sound due to it being an outdoor venue, I didn't go.

It was a wonderful evening at the pool.

Neko was excellent and not a single drop of rain. Also Toky Police Club brought the heat to the annex last night and straight up rocked.
