GIRL TALK'S GREGG GILLIS RECENTLY WROTE
"So, Pitchforkmedia.com put me as a Best New Music artist on Monday and Night Ripper immediately exploded. The past few days have been pretty ridiculous. MTV News contacted me about doing a story for their website, I think Spin is doing some coverage, the New Yorker wanted a copy, the lead singer from Superchunk emailed me to tell me he liked the album, we immediately sold out of all of our CDs and need a re-press, Pitchfork is going to run an interview, I have a new booking agency, and so on. Im now a hyped band, get ready to hate me in approximately 1 year."

Girl Talk "Wikipedia has a complete list of the the samples used on the album, in chronological order.

The picture to the left is from here.

i was so excited to hear this, being such a fan of mixtapes and after hearing it...it fucking sucks. it was fun for about the first song, then it got old quickly. no skill was showed, no good times were permitted. fuck this album

"i was embarrased to be there."

it must be hard to be so cool.

"i was embarrased to be there."

i'm embarred for you that you'd think that.

the show would have been more fun if there were more ladies, and more people dancing that weren't on the stage.

I am glad to hear that someone else missed the memo that NYC is too cool to dance. It drives me crazy that at most of the shows I go to here people stand around like a bunch of stiffs rather than moving to the music.

Posted by Anonymous | August 21, 2006 8:19 AM

you will probably get the same reaction anywhere (not just in nyc), just because the music is meant to be danced to doesn't mean its good enough to dance to.

most people are always looking for a reason to cut loose and dance, its just that most of the music isn't good/inspiring enough to do so.

Was the best "concert" I've been to at Mercury. I was onstage where the energy was really high. Didn't notice the crowd since I was dancing my ass off.

since you were dancing your ass off? or since you were shooting photos for documentation of your hipster status? either way, don't worry about having not noticed the crowd, there are shots of them among your photos. check it out!

Posted by lee | August 23, 2006 9:53 AM

i don't take photographs to document my status as a hipster. i take them because i think liz thinks they're cool.

his myspace site lists a 9/29 irving plaza date. why would anyone pay to see him hit play on his laptop, at such a big venue?

Posted by Anonymous | August 29, 2006 1:24 PM
