Mark Gardener (ride) & Doug Yule (Velvet Underground) & special guest @ Pianos tonight
Mark Gardener (Ride) is playing with Doug Yule (Velvet Underground) at Pianos in NYC tonight (August 31, 2006). There's a "special guest" too, who according to Pianos, if "you who were here for Mark's last show you'll know who it may be." It's all being filmed for a DVD. Tickets are on sale.
Another member of Velvet Underground is playing (with Antony) at St. Ann's in Brooklyn in December, the same place I saw another member of VU play in November.

Very intersting. If I were in NYC I'd be there in an instant. I hope somebody goes, takes pictures and reports back.

I went. Strange, somewhat awkward show. Some news... Gardner said he was coming back next year with a "noisier band" which I took to mean a Ride reunion. More my way...

I was there too. Intimate and interesting show. Mark played about 4 or 5 songs on his own, with acoustic guitar. Then Doug and the special guest, his adorably terrified son, walked on stage and the 3 of them played a Bluegrass song with Doug and son on violins.
Then Doug switched to guitar, played another song before a string of 3 VU tunes. It was a good, but indeed, strange night.
