Chris Thile's How to Grow a Woman from the Ground and Bob Dylan's Modern Times (PFork gives it an 8.3, 5 stars at Prefix, and 4.5 at AMG) aren't the only albums streaming right now. The Beach Boy's classic Pet Sounds is too.
It's because Pet Sounds is celebrating its 40th Birthday on 8/29/2006 with a reissue that includes interviews with Sir George Martin, Brian Wilson, Tony Asher, The Beach Boys, Pete Townsend, Elvis Costello and various studio musicians from the Pet Sounds sessions (on the DVD), plus there's limited edition, numbered, double-vinyl, and a whole series of podcasts and interviews about every song on the record up on petsounds.com.
Other albums streaming at AOL Music include the The Root's Game Theory (Wes likes it), Pete Yorn's Nightcrawler (tickets all sold out), Stereolab, Lullaby Renditions of Coldplay and Radiohead, Ray LaMontagne (player of secret shows), Hatebreed (if you bought it you're going to CBGB), and more.

Listening to the Dylan for the second time today...he's still got it. Amazing.

So I guess since Bob Dylan says modern music is worthless he must be pretty excited about the reissue of Pet Sounds.

Not necessarily. What if the reissue has been digitally remastered?

I think his brain has been digitally remastered by too much drugs.

Wasn't Pet Sounds already reissued a couple times? I think this is getting redundant.

These fucking constant digital remaster reissue double-disc dvd-packaged-interview scam jobs are hilarious. And the sad thing is, they work -- twats buy these things up, the same crap gussied up in a sparkly new package. Sure once in a while a remaster/reissue is truly called for -- the rest of the time it's totally superfluous. They could probably remaster pet sounds every fucking year, claiming to have dug up new master tapes, new outtakes and b-sides, and make even more money...
