New York's Hit Factory Studios turned into condos

"New York's Hit Factory studio, which closed in early 2005 after being home to recording sessions by John Lennon, Stevie Wonder, Madonna and U2, is being converted into condominiums worth more than $1 million." [Reuters]

Lennon never actually recorded in this particular Hit Factory location, it was built long after he was gone. At the height of their business they had 3 studio complexes in town at once: one at 237 W 54th, this one shown here at 421 W 54th and a third one in a high-rise on 42nd street (which I THINK is the last one Lennon worked in).
Shame to see it go condo; it was an amazing place to record and mix. But time marches on.

hi, me and my son are great john lennon fans and we visit NY in january. Our main reason for this trip is to visit John lennon Location. Of course the dakoto, of course central park, but we also try to see the last music studio were he recorded double fantasy....so was it in the old main studio 54th or like i reed in the 42th? and what is there in the buildihng today? still a recording studio? thanx for any information!
