Patti Smith playing final CBGB show? In October?
At first I thought maybe the new date CBGB has listed for the Agnostic Front show was a mistake - it went from September 24th to October 1st (one day after the previously announced closing date of September 30th). An article on Pollstar seems to back this up though: "A team of 'experts' will remove the bars, toilets, etc. in late October after a final gig with Patti Smith, Kristal said."
So far the "downstairs lounge" show on September 30th is still listed as "closing night". Who knows.
Patti Smith also played CBGB on May 1, 2005.

if CBs has "been making more and more money every year, especially in the clothing thing."- why did they need all of those "benefit" shows? And why did they owe so much back rent? Hilly must sleep on a mattress full of cash.

Yick. The team of experts coming in to remove the toilets best be wearing hazmat suits. The bathrooms at CB's are/were the worst ever.
