"Portastatic, the long-running side project of Superchunk frontman Mac McCaughan, will return on Oct. 10 with its next Merge album, 'Be Still Please.' The set was recorded earlier this year at Durham, N.C.'s Pox Studios, a site chosen so McCaughan could stay close to home while still logging hours at Merge, the label he co-founded in 1989." Portastatic are playing a few dates with M. Ward in September followed by a short tour with Jennifer O'Connor in October. Tickets are on sale for Oct. 13th at Mercury Lounge and the 14th at Maxwell's. Jennifer O'Connor is also playing Joe's Pub on August 24th and Northsix with Rahim and Aloha two days later.
