The Foundry Field Recordings | 2006 Tour Dates | MP3s
DOWNLOAD: holding the pilot/holding the facts (MP3)
Missouri's Foundry Field Recordings are a four-piece that play sweet shoegazing guitar pop that sounds like Grandaddy (a lot) meets Nada Surf meets Flaming Lips at their most normal. These are really good lo-fi songs, featuring lyrics full of sci-fi stuff, like robots, clones, the future, technology etc. [Oh My Rockness]
Jackson first menitoned the Foundry Field Recordings, and I've been digging their new album (Prompts/Miscues) too (most of it anyway). Cokemachineglow reviewed it. The MP3 above is from it, plus there's more at Sonicbids and more MP3s here and even a whole free EP here and a MySpace.
The band is touring as we speak and they're gonna play 3 NY shows - one in Long Island, one in Brooklyn, and one in Manhattan. The Manhattan one is presented by Crackers United and the L Magazine and also features Cassettes Won't Listen and Apes & Androids on the bill - @ Sin-e, August 23rd (I hear Jackson might be DJing too). All dates below...

FFR are a great band! Good to see these guys getting some well deserved attention.

They were good, definitely worth checking out. Cafe Coco isn't the best venue in the world, so I have to handicap my comments a bit to account for the pitiful sound. Definitely a lot more mellow that I expected. More Radar Bros than Flaming Lips (although the songs on MySpace made me think of Mercury Rev, not the Lips).
