The Kooks playing NYC & CA | Tour Dates & tix

DOWNLOAD: She Moves in Her Own Way (MP3)

The Kooks

THE KOOKS | 2006 TOUR DATES
10/23 - New York, NY - Bowery Ballroom (JUST ADDED)
10/24 - Los Angeles, CA - Safari Sams
10/25 - Los Angeles, CA - Spaceland (SOLD OUT)
10/26 - San Francisco, CA - 300 Ritch
10/28 - Brooklyn, NY - NorthSix (SOLD OUT)

I can't tell you how many tickets were actually offered to the public, but apparently The Kooks' Brooklyn show sold out in like a eight days. The Kooks are the latest group of British teenagers to cause a stir (almost) the size of Arctic Monkeys. Hated by Pitchfork and loved by NME, they're visiting NYC for the first time this Fall. The Bowery Ballroom show on October 23rd was just added (supposedly in response to Northsix selling out so quickly), and tickets go on sale at noon.

"The band's debut album Inside In/Inside Out was released in their native UK in January of this year, peaked at #2 in the charts, and has since gone double platinum. The album will see a stateside release on Oct 3rd via Astralwerks." [Filter]

a 5.9 isn't exactly 'hatred'

but pitting Pitchfork against NME is guaranteed to increase your readership!

The Bowery show will definitely sell out too..there's going to be a lot of industry at these shows so not too many tix to begin with...and why all the hatin' these guys are great!!

anybody know anything about small sins, the opener? they sound kinda like postal service.

according to mercury lounge, doors at 7, small sins at 8 and kooks at 9. doesn't that seem obscenely early?

Posted by Qbertplaya | October 23, 2006 1:50 PM

Posted by adam | October 23, 2006 2:15 PM

Ummm, the show's at Bowery, right?

Amen to an early show - now I might get to catch the second half of the Giants/Cowboys game.

Posted by gwong | October 23, 2006 2:41 PM

anyone catch this show last night?

Posted by liz | October 24, 2006 11:25 AM

Yeah, I caught the show last night. It was a good show, nothing to be overly excited by, I thought.

Their lead singer has an awful lot of swagger for a band that's only been around for all of ten minutes.

Posted by gwong | October 24, 2006 12:39 PM

tres short! only about 40 minutes. kinda fun, kinda young. at least you can't complain about the price of the ticket. the opener was yawn, i thought.

They have hardly been around 40 minutes! Maybe in the USA but not the UK. Saw them 3 times last year. Fantastic.
