Unkle Monk

The last surviving founding member of the Ramones Tommy Ramone plays bluegrass with Claudia Tienan of the Simplistics. They call themselves Uncle Monk.

The Continental changed their mind about Murphy's Law playing the last show ever at the club. Tickets are now on sale for THE REAL LAST SHOW ("this is it!") on September 17. 2006. Its "a full Ramones set" by Ramones producer Daniel Rey, Ramones bassist (1989-1996) CJ Ramone, Radio host and lead singer of the The Dictators Handsome Dick Manitoba (also own's Manitoba's bar), Walter Lure (Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers), and Lenny Kaye (Patti Smith group). No Tommy Ramone at this one, but then again it does say "special guests". (thx Klaus)

The lineup for the night of September 17th at CBGB has yet to be announced, but speaking of Lenny Kaye - he'll be the special guest at CBGB's Gallery on September 8th. He goes on at 10pm after Carla Rhodes. Mad Juana are on at midnight.

I feel like an ass for having spent $15 on a Murphy's Law ticket... in advance, no less

So both Continental and CBGB are closing on the same day? I think the LES might implode that night.....

no, Continental is having its last show ever on the 17th. CBGB closes completely on the 30th.

When I went to see Stewart Copeland introduce and discuss his film, Everyone Stares: The Police Inside Out, at Lincoln Center a couple of weekends ago, someone asked him what music he listens to nowadays. He replied that he's a Sirius subscriber and he likes to listen to Hard Attack in the mornings to get himself going and he also favors the Bluegrass channel. (Kinda ironic since traditional bluegrass bands don't have a drummer.) He added that he likes to listen to world music (Brazilian, etc.) too.

I would love to see Osaka Popstar, but I think they may be in the UK with the Misfits during the closing. We'll see.

Continental will still exist, just not as a concert venue. I don't think there ever will be a "last" show as long as Trigger owns the bar.
