I find it a bit strange that the Dictators are not going on sale before Patti. The Bullys are also scheduled to perform with the Dics on the 13th.
I would not be surprised if the Hardcore show for 10/8 sells out before the last show with Patti.

Did you go to Lee Perry? I'm kicking myself for not coughing up the dough. Anyone know how it was?

Patti Smith sold out.
I fought with site issue for ten minutes but couldn't get there. They simply couldn't handle the load.

damn, same here. this happened when i tried to get sonic youth tickets at cbgb's. the ticketweb system screws me everytime.
Posted by AngryCitizen | October 1, 2006 12:24 PM
Same here as well. Was anyone actually able to get tickets?

My friend somehow managed to get tickets, but I couldn't- so I guess ticketweb worked for her & only her. Damn. Anyone know of any roundabout ways to get them?

I also had the same problem w/ticketweb--Said it was holding 2 tix, I entered my cc info, then was told it was sold out! So I ran over to CBGB's at like 12:15 to see if they might have any still left, & they said everywhere was completely sold out in 10 min...Guess it's up to ebay or craigslist...

I was not able to get tickets either. Put in shopping cart and then disappeared.

The same checkout problem happened with me about three times. I had loaded up the CBGB's ticketweb page on three browsers, and flipped back between them. After about 5 minutes, one of them finally came through. The same thing happened to me with the Sonic Youth show, but for that I didn't get the tickets (and I was at work using three computers simultaneously). I still have not gotten a confirmation email fro Ticketweb, so I'm still a bit worried that I actually have the tickets (although I do have a confirmation number).
The problem is Ticketweb doesn't have the computing power to deal with an overloaded system (see also: the Clap Your Hands Bowery ticket fiasco). These guys are owned by Ticketmaster, so you would think they could get the extra computing power.
For the last Patti Smith CBGB's show, I didn't get tickets, but got there really early and bribed a bouncer to sneak me in the back. It worked like a charm, but I doubt it's an option for this show (unless you have a lot of money to throw at the bouncer).

I was on there at 12 and had the same issues, but after a couple of tries got it to work. I think there may have been an issue with Firefox, I couldn't get it to work there, but I opened Internet Explorer and it went right through.

I ended up in the same boat -- no problem placing the tickets in the cart and then it came up as "sold out" on the final confirmation screen. I guess I got overconfident as I had no problem getting Gorilla Biscuits or Bad Brains tickets.
Were tickets available directly at CBs? Also, has anyone had luck in purchasing off Craigslist or eBay? I am a little sceptical going this route as these aren't hard tickets and most of the ads that I have seen say something like "meet me before the show".

I had no problem with Sonic Youth or Gorilla Biscuits, but I couldn't get Patti Smith. I couldn't even get tickets in the cart my first two attempts, tw simply kicked me back to the initial screen. I am soooo dissapointed. I also forgot about the onsale for Bad Brains. Argh. I'm hoping for some love for the Dictators. Will bloggers PLEASE stop posting the onsale dates? If people aren't fans enough to check for onsale dates religiously, they don't deserve to go.

i hate ticketweb.
you don't display that the tickets will be "held" for 15 minutes if thats not how your system is set up. i hate to give ticketbastard any credit but at least their online ticketing doesn't screw people over like this. ticketweb even charged my card twice and won't be able to refund it for 3 days. it would suffice to say i am just a little bitter with ticketweb.com

Did not attempt to see Patti (I have seen her zillions of times including at CBGB) but am dying to see the Dictators again. Without question, ticketweb is a bitch to use as I have bought tickets and had to go back and forth on the website to confirm the transaction.
Anyone know if there is an easy way to navigate TW? I should know this by now but if I already have an account set up, can I bypass having to provide the info about my billing and address?

I was at CBGB's on Saturday night for The Vibrators show. . . .first and only time there as we travelled 3 hours from PA to make it before closing weekend. What a great place, I only wish I could have been closer to enjoy more shows there. I am envious of everyone who can claim this as their hometown venue.

Just got my credit card statement. Ticketweb charged me twice for Patti Smith tickets on Oct 1, and both charges were refunded on Oct 3. I wonder if I really had tickets and was denied because I ordered twice? Or did I never have tickets?
