Idolator and other new websites
Idolator is the Gawker music blog
Here are some other new websites
* Gerard vs. Bear (funny, even to those mocked)
* Hipsterotica (just what it sound likes)
* Spiralfrog (music in exchange for watching ads)
* The Annex (the NYC venue finally got a site)
* Fontana's Bar (no longer just a placeholder)
* Land of Talk (graduated from MySpace)
* Tokyo Police Club (graduated from MySpace)
* Sure Juror (graduated from MySpace)
* Love is All (graduated from MySpace)
* Merge Records blog (Merge blogs)
(I know, some of them are just new-ISH)

"Brooklyn Vegan is OVER! here is a REAL music blog:
idolator.com"
C'mon, BV! This dude rips you and you give him a headline! I'm a little confused!

BV - as always, you da man.

BV's being magnanimous in openly acknowledging these other smallfry twatty newbies, assured that he's still the shit.
I've always hated that ring of gawker blogs [wonkette, gizmodo, etc]. Tawdry, empty -- a circle of stylish pissmongers, all wink and no bite.

"This dude rips you"
I'm working under the assumption that the guy is a random psychopath, and not actuually affiliated with Gawker.

what happened to Manhattan Carnivore? It actually looked promising for a while. Well, "promising" might be too strong a description, but it did have actual content, sort of.

" idolator.com is a new music blog from the makers of gawker. It doesn't hype music acts until they are completely irrelevant like here."
Maybe he's not affiliated with Gawker, but he sure did find it necessary to drop their name.

Idolater is a snoozer so far. The Gawker folks had deadspin pimp it yesterday to get some hits over there.
I can't believe you didn't put the betahat blog on your list! We just put up a post about the 1993 Roadrunner Records sampler CD -- you can't get any more irrelevant than that!!
Plus my father-in-law is from Brooklyn. Ocean Parkway represent.

I found this test entry dated 2/9/06:
http://idolator.com/tunes/tag/captured-live-testing-it-out-edition-153767.php
Sure took them long enough to launch.

That's normal for a Gawker Media blog. Deadspin launched last September but their archives go back to May 2005.

what's funny to me is that they keep trying to explain stuff that has already been covered ad infinitum (hype machine, bit torrent). I wouldn't be surprised if they do a little tutorial on "how to right click and save as" next week. The mus think theri readers are morons or at the very least mp3 and music on the net newbies...perhaps they are!?

My children...to find true hipness in the jungle of normalness you must first let go of all hate for any other blogs that might speak against the one you love.
also you must stop listening to colin meloy who will only lead you to frequent lunch dates with satan..
and while i have your attention...remember that listening to Scissor Sisters will not make you gay....dancing to them whilst wearing headphones when no one else can hear will only label you as gay. reality has its consequences
