To everyone: If you respect your fans, do not play at Webster Hall, Irving Plaza, and Warsaw. There are many other places in the city. Bad sound and oversold shows destroy even the best performances.

do not play beacon either!

Ok that leaves Bowery Ballroom and ummm ..nothing else, because all the venues you mentioned are actually bigger than Bowery.
As odd as it seems, for being a huge mecca of enteratinment NYC probably has less good 750 to 1500 capacity venues than many other cities even those a lot smaller. Any overcrowded club sucks, some suck more than others but its never a good thing... sometimes the problem is that after they selll all the tickets to the fans, they still have to make room for guests and in NYC , everyone knows someone so that can get out of hand pretty quickly..

i see what you're saying about Webster, but Warsaw is great.

beacon? i've only been there once and I thought it was awesome

Town Hall is great too and also bigger than Bowery.

I'll agree that Webster Hall and Irving Plaza suck but the Warsaw?

Totally agree with you on Town Hall, wes. Seeing Cat Power there was infinitely better than at Irving.

i love the plea from the fans, the fans who know nothing about how shows are booked. do you think Imogene (or 90% of all artists) get to choose where they play? agents book their artists where they get the best deal from the local talent buyer. my hunch is that Live Nation didn't want to take a chance that IH will sell enough tix so they went the Webster route...which is Bowery Presents which each one of you indie-snobs should count your lucky stars for having, regardless if their biggest room doesn't sound prestine.

Beacon management is a bunch of arrogant sob's who care nothing about the fans. On top of that you can wait a half hour at their "bar" to get an overpriced budweiser in a small plastic cup.

it's sad that a lot of the shows i would like to attend are being booked at webster hall. the room and the sound are terrible. i don't mind it when places don't have amazing sound, as i don't expect it. i do have one positive thing to say about webster hall, the bartenders make the drinks nice and strong. sadly, this is the only good thing i can say about the venue.
