Michael Imperioli's "nyc punk inspired alt-rock band" La Dolce Vita
A few weeks ago I was at Don Hill's in Manhattan when I saw a seemingly expensive glossy poster on the wall for an August 30th show by a band called "La Dolce Vita". I thought it was weird - all the other local bands that play Don Hill's on a regular basis don't get posters like that. It was dark, I didn't look close, and then I forgot about it.
A few weeks later I just so happened to be looking at a copy of the Daily News someone left on the train. Inside was a picture of Christopher from the Sopranos holding a guitar. The caption read: "Michael Imperioli blew them off the stage at Don Hill's Wednesday night with his band, La Dolce Vita. The Sopranos star who plays guitar, sings in an arch punk style more like Richard Hell of the Voivods than his wiseguy character, Christopher Moltisanti." Then I knew.
There's a video from another show @ YouTube, and a picture I found of the poster-in-question is below....

The quote in the title came from here.

When's the last time Little Steven released a recording? I think it was years and years ago.

"whatever band that little Steven guy is in"
you mean the E Street one?

The E what? The E Street Collective? Broken E Street Scene? I forget.

Isn't it a bit early to judge a band based on a YouTube video taken at their first show ever?

no

Little Steven plays in the E Street Band. This band plays with Bruce Springsteen.

Daily News: it's the Voidoids, not Voivods
although Richard Hell + Voivod would be awesome

Little Steven also had a recording career (sort of) away from the E Street Band. Read about it at all music: http://allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=11:rrapqj3yojha~T1

If Michael Imperioli wasn't in it, every one would be tripping over their own hard ons to catch this band.

"tripping over their own hard ons"? Is that anatomically possible?

maybe not for you.

They played last night at Southpaw and they ate at my restaurant Bogota Latin Bistro located half a block away. Everyone was excited to see him there although I had no clue who he was.

"The Sweet Life" nice....I liked the song, i'd like to see them play..it falls into my category of real rock music, not like teen punk Simple Plan shit....he's got a good voice too. Plus I'm sorry, he's so damn sexy. Micheal Imperioli rocks my socks!

Dudes stole the chord progression from Rush's "Spirit of the Radio." I am having flashbacks now of my brother blasting it in his room when I was a kid in the early 80s.

Some of these comments are from a couple of years ago.
I saw them just the other night at Bill's Bar in Boston and honestly it rocked pretty hard...I was definitely impressed!
