My Morning Jacket Okonokos: Double Live Album and Concert Film
(CD release Sept 26; DVD release Oct. 31 -- ATO/RCA Records)
"Following the release of their fourth critically acclaimed full-length, Z, My Morning Jacket is about to release what is surely to become their quintessential body of work: Okonokos, a 2-disc live recording and concert film capturing MMJ in all their glory.
Okonokos, conceived by Jim James, and it is as much a question as it is an answer. It is an enigma wrapped around a riddle. Okonokos is whatever you want it to be.
The live concert was created with the aid of the trailblazing lighting designer Marc Brickman (well-known for his work with Pink Floyd), and filmed by director Sam Erickson. Okonokos: Double Live Album was mixed by Michael Brauer (Bob Dylan, Coldplay) and mastered by pre-eminent engineer Bob Ludwig."

I can imagine the muddled sound mix already. I guess I'll be taking a roadtrip down to philly.

I checked out the site but only four of the dates were on sale. Maybe I misunderstood, or maybe the New York date isn't on sale yet? Does anyone know? thanks!

I am super excited I willl be at NYC through Boston and hopefully Indy as well. There are also rumors of them doing a NYE run in San Fran at the Fillmore.

I'm not a fan of Roseland, but Electric Factory in Philly isn't any better. I've been to a few shows there, and it's probably one of my least favorite venues anywhere. More of the same with the muddled sound mix, and if you want to drink, you can't stand anywhere on the floor of the venue and have to stand in the balcony area.

The show at the Avalon in Boston last Fall was pretty great. Good sound and easy to get up front so for those not wanting to go to the Roseland or Electric Factory you may wnat to head up to Boston. No matter what MMJ will be rocking it.

correct, electric facotry is very similar in it's awfulness to roseland. head to Milwaukee or Chicago for a good night.

Also the album is awesome. I have had it for a couple of months now and I just can't stop listening to it.

I am just so pumped for this. Last time two times I saw them they were with others (the Boston Pops and opening for Pearl Jam). Hopefully they will get someone solid to open for them.

I said I was never coming back to Roseland and decided to go down to Philly, is it really the Electric Factory worse than Roseland? I thought nothing was...

sorry to bring up an unrelated topic, but i'm sure that some of you have seen a show at first unitarian church in philadelphia before, and i'm wondering what it's like: what's the capacity? what new york venue would you compare it to?
thanks.

Why isn't anyone on the internet writing about how the guitarist for Hatebreed died?

So i checked out idolator, and it's just like Gawker. I guess it's better than BV if you prefer to read news on awesome acts such as Evanescence and the like. That was a hilarious post biskit.

i'd say that first unitarian church is a little smaller than mercury. bands play in the basement. (and sometimes in the sanctuary, i guess) as you might expect, they don't serve any alcohol, but its a very decent venue, good sound. i've seen magnolia electric company there with CYHSY and a handful of others

"as you might expect, they don't serve any alcohol"
Do they ever book any black metal bands?
