Studio B in Brooklyn | new venue

Studio B
"The rockers behind the Delancey and Studio A in Miami have commandeered a onetime Polish nightclub on the outskirts of Greenpoint and are using its over-the-top lights and smoke machines, industrial flavor, and gigantic dance floor for live performances (promoter Todd P. brought the Black Dice to a pre-opening party) and D.J. nights curated by Justine D. (of Motherfucker). In addition to a raised VIP lounge with leather couches overlooking the stage, an intimate, bordello-esque side room hosts its own spinners." [New York Magazine]
259 Banker St., btwn Meserole & Calyer Sts., Greenpoint, Brooklyn; 718-389-1880

Who can name all the Polish nightclubs in Greenpoint that now host indie rock shows?

The Polish nightclubs in Greenpoint are not exclusively indie rock. They still are Polish nightclubs. Eventhough many Polish immigrants are finding cheaper places to live in Maspeth and Ridgewood any rumors of the Poles (and Polish club scene) demise in Greenpoint are overly exaggerated.
Niech zyje Greenpoint Polonia!
But to answer the question I'll say the top three:
Europa, Exit, Warsaw. Studio B as it's now called was never exclusivly Polish, it's about 18 months old and has had everything, Polish, hip-hop, Latin in there. Anyone know who the proprietors are?

i would hardly call this an "indie club." have you seen the pictures on their website? it looks like "the attic" - the over 18 nightclub zach and gang sneak into in one of the early saved by the bell episodes. yes, you know exactly what i'm talking about.

Is that Sean Penn at the bar in that pic?
Hmmm

The Black Dice show was all ages (the space is funny and the smoke machine slays but the light show induces seizures) but now their website and ohmyrockness say 21+, any clues?

Let's hope that the owners of Studio B are going to be better neighbors than their predecesors, and not as bad as the Delancey's owners are to their neighbors. People live in this neighborhood.
Posted by calyer st. | September 23, 2006 2:50 PM
Studio B owner IS the owner of the Delancey. Was also the owner of short-lived Red & The Black in Williamsburg. Polish coke-head scumbag...
Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2006 2:58 PM
Who cares about Delancey's neighbors? It's the LES! They should be greatful they aren't getting shot.

You can call this a “sales pitch” but instead spending the nights alone under the rock come to our club and see what rocks? I buy you a drink to cheer you up.

I live in Greenpoint and saw MewithoutYou at The Warsaw, a great venue in Brooklyn. Kind of like a gymnasium with cheap food and good beer at a good price.

I was here last night for the Carl Craig Demon Days show. The venue was great, but they really need to figure out some basic logistics.

fuck studio B. I went there for a show and the house DJ was the most 90's piece of scum I'd ever seen. He might as well have been DJing a middle school dance, I'm surprised he didn't play fucking 'space jam'...
