The Futureheads cancel 2006 tour

"British rockers THE FUTUREHEADS have cancelled their upcoming US tour after frontman BARRY HYDE recently came down with tendonitis. The four-piece had been due to kick off their American tour in Seattle, Washington on Wednesday, but Hyde's inflamed left wrist has forced the band to abandon the trek. However, drummer ROSS MILLARD has promised fans The Futureheads will return 'at the next available opportunity'. He says, 'We are deeply sorry, but I guess we have to focus on Barry making progress toward recovery, and only rest will enable that.'" [Contact Music] (thx all)

I'm guiltily (if that's a word) happy as their NW dates conflicted with both Art Brut and Scissor Sisters and I really didn't want to miss them! I hope they reschedule SOON!

FWIW: The Donnas cut short their European tour at the end of September 2003 (hell, they may have played their last show of that tour exactly three years ago today) because their drummer could no longer play through the tendonitis in her wrist despite cortisone injections. She underwent surgery shortly after they returned home. Ten and a half months passed before they performed in public again.

Since he's The Futureheads' frontman, they can hire someone to play his instrument while he still does the singing, so they can be back on the road a lot sooner.

Dang! They are amazing live. One of the best of the Brit bands imho. I was looking forward to seeing 'em play Burnt and Skip To The End onstage. What a shame. Good luck to the Cold War Kids though ...
