i can't believe this band has fans

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2006 10:58 AM

i hate this band so much that it makes me feel crazy sometimes.

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2006 12:37 PM

Yeah, Mike Patton apparently thinks they're great!

Even the indie crowd loved Wolfmother when they first appeared on the scene. Now that they made it big, it's time to hate the same songs. If they hit the top of the charts here, then they'll become "the worst band in the world." Most people coming here aren't any different than the MTV crowd, who only listens to a band once they make it big. One side chooses popular, the other side unpopular, not good or bad music.

For the record, being a longtime BV fan: A) I haven't watched MTV since 1998, and B) I've hated Wolfmother from the first note and first concert of theirs I attended. I couldn't care less about "popular" and "unpopular."

Agreed. Most "indie" bands are incredibly shitty. limited musicianship, limited songwriting skills, no personality, shitty, whiny, white, fey vocals often masked by double-tracked vocals..

All that fucking garden state, sunshine whatever, car commercial "indie" bullshit. It's all shit. Not that wolfmother is any better.

Just tired of crappy, underwhelming, boring "indie" bands that "indie" blogs champion and dub the "next big thing". Stop already.

please tell me what to listen to, ghummie.

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2006 2:48 PM

yeah let's hear it ghummie. School us. Edify us.

Listen to Cass McCombs.

WOMMMAN!

Guys, ahh, jesus, what the fuck.

Ghummie, who the hell do you think you are? This is an indie music blog, in case you haven't noticed. If you really feel the way you just described, do yourself a favor and don't post here. Really, person to person here, you look like a really big asshole right now.

To the person who seems to think that the "indie scene" loved Wolfmother at first and now hates them because they got big: you have no idea what you're talking about. How can you claim to know the feelings of an entire music scene? Like many, many people here, I've hated Wolfmother from the get-go. Totally derivitave and entirely uninteresting. Please. Enough with the douche-bag comments.

Haha i saw these guys open for the strokes a few nights ago and seriously thought i was watching spinal tap...these guys are so rediculously awful.

"Please. Enough with the douche-bag comments."

'How can you claim to know the feelings of an entire music scene?' What a great argument! You seem to be the biggest douchebag here. I think that most indie heads are not that different than people whose playlists are determined by radio airplay and the charts. And yes, I'm generalizing. Not all people with similar interests are the same. Even if you don't know any indie heads (I am friends with several and been hanging out at NYC record stores for years), you can look at the comments left at many of the posts here and come to that conclusion. I come here because I like the diversity of BV's taste in music and the fact that he isn't afraid to post about Madonna's upcoming shows and hip hop acts next to Manu Chao, Frank Black, TVOTR and Bob Dylan, not because I'd like to read the comments of bunch of know-it-alls who take out their lack of talent on acts who got it. I try to listen to everything and more often than not I find at least a redeemable quality in an album or a live performance. And even when I don't, I try to shut the fuck up about it. These people are putting something creative out there that speaks to others, whereas the rest of us sit on our asses at the computer and preach. Mel Brooks defined the critic better than anybody in "History of the World, Part I."

my children...i have sent to you WOLFMOTHER!!! to lead you from the evils of boring indie rock...

ROCK will bring you salvation and WOLFMOTHER!!! will provide sanctuary...

and yes, the rumours are true....Colin Meloy is satan in human form.

Thou shalt ROCK again!!!!!!!!!

You really think Wolfmother are "putting something creative out there"? That's really fuckin sad. Still, my favorite part of your post was "i am friends with several [indie heads] and have been hanging out at NYC record stores for years."

I don't think anything else needs to be said after that.

Do you actually think that Wolfmother are "putting something creative out there"? That's pretty fuckin sad. Still, my favorite part of your post was "i am friends with several [indie heads] and have been hanging out at NYC record stores for years."

I don't think anything else needs to be said after that.

I too have spent time at record stores many afternoons after work and Saturdays in my youth, especially before people stopped coming and they started closing down. It was a great way to discover music and I met a lot of people I still see today and go to shows with. What's so sad about that?

Posted by Tim | September 18, 2006 7:29 PM

joker and a theif is awsome woman is awsome dimensions is fuckin amazing and sooner or later people are going to have to realize wolfmother is king.

Haha! To those who hate Wolfmother; No one can blame you. It's all part of a conditoning you've got into. What's really trendy? What's really the 'in thing'? Who decides that? Looking at it from that point of view, it's easy to see that the FANS of bands like Wolfmother, The White Stripes, The Strokes, and future Godfathers of rock n' roll have'nt been conditoned enough to speak of or ridicule Wolfmother fans the way you have. Just remember, it's the conditioning. You see it everywhere, and it becomes hip. If you don't, then it's supposedly garbage. ;)

Posted by Brandon | July 26, 2007 2:49 PM

If there wasn't already a band called The Strokes, Wolfmother would be pretty cool. They need to invent themselves a time machine.

Posted by Anonymous | July 26, 2007 3:15 PM

OK. I'll just have to speak my bit then. Well then, let all the "Fruity Loops", monotonous ramping, repeating garbage, and all things vulgar and/or associated with money, drugs, and sex prevail! Good luck! Cause if music ain't going full circle, it's just gonna get worse because of people who don’t know how to escape their little looping cells of comfort. LOL. Hail, Wolfmother!
