"Forget Cassettes" - obviously a band hoping to cash in on the Tapes n' Tapes hype.

Uh, obviously you don't know that Forget Cassettes have been around for a few years.

there doesnt seem to be a whole lot of international acts this year or (major) bands playing new york for the first time, which is what usually makes cmj so special.

I dont think anything will compare to last years line up for me.
I too wish the list was alphabetical, its so hard to sift through.
Posted by Anonymous | October 5, 2006 6:03 PM
scratch that, there is an alphabetical list on the site its just all jumbled together so its still hard to read

You're all free to bash on me, as I'm unexperienced with CMJ musicfest. BUT, are the shows open to the public, or can you only go to the showcases if you've purchased the 500$ pass? If there's a particular show I'd like to go to, can I buy a ticket for just that show?

Not that I know anything, cause I don't; but my understanding from one of the bands I saw recently who are planning to do a CMJ show told me that you can get tickets. My impression is that they give 1st priority to badge holders and estimate how many tickets they can sell based on that. I would love more info on this as well.

"My impression is that they give 1st priority to badge holders and estimate how many tickets they can sell based on that."
Wrong. Badges do not guarantee admission. In fact, the allocation for badge holders is very small. Every year the same thing: badge holders think they are so hip that they have a badge, but can't get into any show unless they show up when doors open.
