“For her January dates, Haines will be joined by select members of The Soft Skeleton—her backing band and fellow collaborators on the record—Sparklehorse’s Scott Minor will be on drums and New York-based musician Paul Dillon will moonlight on bass. Collaborators on the album include Minor, Jimmy Shaw (Broken Social Scene/Metric), Stars’ Evan Cranley and Chris Seligman and Broken Social Scene’s Justin Peroff, among others. Also at the shows, audience members can expect to see short films by Guy Maddin projected on stage. As he did for Haines’ Fall performances, Maddin—known for recreating the style of the silent-film era—will put together short montages from his past work for each of Emily’s songs on KNIVES.”
