STYX playing a benefit @ the Hook in Brooklyn
DOWNLOAD: Styx - Mr Roboto (MP3)

Yesterday someone compared My Chemical Romance to STYX in the comments. Today I noticed STYX are playing a benefit @ The Hook in Red Hook, Brooklyn, NYC. Don't go expecting any Mr. Roboto (actually, you probably just shouldn't go at all).

STYX was my favorite band from 1978-1982. We all have to come from somewhere.
'Course, they do suck now, ever since Dennis De Young left the band (are any of you still reading this?)...

Their bodies lack ANY sort of definition. What's up with that? Maybe it's a Chicago thing from the 70's

Does anyone know if Styx is actually playing? It is listed as a "listening party"

I think its a 70's thing in general... ever see baseball & basketball players from the 70's & even 80's.....not exactly buff...

different era...hippies were a lot less narcissitic than hipsters are today.

that pic is just sooooo wrong.
it looks like they are in a demonic fart fest.

Hmmm...is it really a pic of Styx? I don't recognize blonde midget Tommy Shaw or Rollie Fingers (70s Oakland A's reference!) look-a-like Dennis DeYoung.

That link you put about the worst bands is the dumbest shit. Boston and Styx are WAY better than Arcade Fire or TV On The Radio. Ever notice how when you're in the grocery store and a Boston song comes on, people start bobbing their heads and singing along?
"Renegade" by Styx is miles above anything by any of these "Fork Fork" bands. The beat, the vocal melody, the acapella opening, I mean c'mon, stop kidding yourselves.

if you don't like tommy shaw's "fooling yourself" and "too much time on my hands" then you're probably a pretentious ass. i'll give you dennis de yuck though.

I hated Mr Roboto when it came out and I hate it now. Not sure how Styx managed to hang on as long as they did. The only memorable song (I would have to say it's pretty good, altho dated sounding today) is "Lady."

Styx started a few blocks away from where I grew up on the Southwest Side of Chicago. Boy, are we proud...For every Cheap Trick or Steve Albini that came out of Chicago, we also had an REO Speedwagon and a Survivor.
