Method ManMethod Man and RZA are at work on the return of the Wu Tang Clan. Read more in a Meth interview over at RiotSound.

Duran Duran are in the studio with hip hop producer extraordinaire Timbaland, most recently responsible for hit records by Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake. I love what he did with Furtado and Timberlake, but right now I'm a little scared. Read more here.

Did you even listen to AWOL? It was absolutely the best album he has done since AZiatic, and I think the best of his career. All of the Heatmakerz tracks, "The Come-Up", the Raekwon joint..... it is excellent.

i sure did listen to AWOL. i even bought the deluxe version. But it's just pretty awful, pretty much universally agreed upon it is too. People have high expectations for AZ so something mediocre or just kinda ok is automatically seen as garbage if it comes from someone you know can do better

just my humble opinion of course

btw let me clarify that what was wrong with AWOL imo was the lackluster and corny beats. not even so much AZ's rapping. but the beats largely sucked

I had a recording session a few years ago with AZ, he sat outside in his car for hours because he was afraid to get into the elevator in the building....How Gangstah!.......

I would argue that The Come Up by DJ Premier is one of the single best tracks he has ever done.

How about a post on guys that came up AFTER 1997?

NO ONE is checking for the new Eve or Method Man.

By the way, the new "Crooklyn Dodgers" track is not a reworking, unless you mean a reworking of a reworking (which it STILL isnt). There was a part II featuring Jeru, OC, Dj Premier, & Chubb Rock.

I posted earlier about A.W.O.L. being one of his best. Universally panned? I dare you to find a poor review from a reputable site. Unfortunately, there is no metacritic for this record but allhiphop, popmatters, prefixmag, stylusmagazine, rapreviews, cokemachineglow, hiphopgalaxy, hiphophavoc & allmusic.com all gave positive reviews.

The only semi-negatives were from hiphopdx and ohword who both gave it an above average rating. Even XXL gave it an L (which is GENEROUS for a veteran doing it on the indie level).

If you dont like it thats one thing, but it was not universally panned.

I try but there's not so much good news out there for younger cats. previous posts have had younger rappers in there too. any names as a suggestion? im definitely trying to look out for unknown but great guys so if you have any tips email me or comment! :)

On AZ> The Come Up is DEFINITELY one of his greatest songs and just plain excellent. i didnt say the record only had bad songs. just that overall it's a dissappointing album. way too many bad beats and uncohesive. all the decent review also point this out.

even decent reviews point out all these things. lets face it, unless AZ comes with an album full of primo beats (or ones of the same quality) and Life's A Bitch quality lyrics/flow, it's dissappointing however decent it is. i just expect a lot more. Nas has a similar problem (of a much lesser magnitude): super high expectations and not always delivering
