Yankees: 0 || Tigers 7

DOWNLOAD: Talkin' Baseball (Yankees Version) (MP3)

Baseball Furies

As a New Yorker I can't help but become a sports fan every year during baseball playoffs. Right now we've got the Yankees and Mets fighting their way to the World Series, but as I write this the Yankees are down 7-to-nothing in what could turn out to be their last game of the season. Sucks.

Hey, the Village Voice is talking about sports, why can't I. Don't worry I won't start hanging out with American Idols.

- Now he's 8-Rod.

Alex Rodriguez, 1-for-11 with no RBI in the AL playoffs and stuck in a prolonged October slump, was dropped to the eighth spot in New York's batting order on Saturday as the Yankees tried to avoid being eliminated by the Detroit Tigers.

Thanks Yanks. GO METS!!!!!

The season is 162 games homie, try watching all of them before tuning into the playoffs, it's like missing someone's whole birthday party and then showing up just for the cake.

Weak.

How many people who live in Brooklyn now are FROM Brooklyn? Uh-huh.

Posted by Anonymous | October 7, 2006 6:57 PM

fuck the yankees. normally i'd say "go red sox" but that's not appropriate, so instead "go mets!"

Posted by holmes | October 7, 2006 6:57 PM

It does suck. The Yankees have been addicted to big power hitters for the last 3 year, when will they re-learn pitching wins champioships. There is something fundamentally wrong with their approach when the opposing pitcher has thrown 40 pitches through 6 innings. By the way did anyone expect Kenny Rogers to throw that type of game last night, that *WAS* a fluke, even a blind squirrel can find a nut. Jeter is tstill the best , mostclutch player in NYC.
See ya next year. Good Luck Mets, let's still have a parade!

Posted by lk | October 7, 2006 7:10 PM

BV, if the Yankees somehow manage to stay alive, will you say you're rooting for both them and the Mets? That would be wack.

Posted by yo | October 7, 2006 7:19 PM

8-3!!

Posted by Anonymous | October 7, 2006 7:24 PM

...and that's the final score.

Another shitty happening today: They christened a new aircraft carrier named after George H. W. Bush. At least it rained cats and dogs on the ceremony.

If Jesus doesn't bat 1000 for the Yanks he'll get booed off the field!

Posted by Anonymous | October 8, 2006 8:23 PM

My children, I do not take sides in sporting contests. Wars against infidels, however, are a different matter. U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!

GO CARDS!!!!

i'm a transplanted new englander living in the detroit area. This entire tigers' run here is a joke; i can't think of a bigger band wagon team. Get this, their tagline for the playoffs has been 'Bless You Boys'. Did someone sneeze or find a cure for cancer? this place is a joke so they sugar coat shit here for these idiots. The tigers and their foolish fans make me sick.

Cards beat the Mets. HA-HA!

FYI, FWIW: The slogan "Bless You Boys" dates back to the Tigers' appearance in the 1984 World Series.
