Dear Village Voice, thank you for your helpful guide to New Years Eve, but the Black Crowes, My Morning Jacket, and North Mississippi Allstars are not playing MSG as far as I know - that was last year. My Morning Jacket ARE playing a New Years show, but that's in San Francisco. Productshop lists some New Years shows too.
The Apiary lists some holiday events that will make you laugh. Checking out comedian Todd Barry's tour date page is another angle you can take here. Also look at the UCB theatre listings.
New York Magazine lists some holiday shows.

The Wainwright shindig is tonight. Kiki & Herb @ Bowery Ballroom happens December 20th. Murray Hill's Christmas is at Comix.
The 2006 Social Registry holiday party, with performances by Growing, TK Webb, Doug Shaw & Mira Billotte (White Magic), IUD, and AGAST, is Friday December 15th at The Carriage House in Carroll Gardens (383 Carroll Street BTWN Bond & Nevins). "10 bucks but cheap drinks". 8pm
Vegans will be getting down in Fort Greene Thursday night.
Teenage Prayers are playing a holiday benefit show at Mercury Lounge on December 20th. The money goes towards "buying a virtual recording studio for the students of Brooklyn Community Arts & Media High School in Bedford Stuyvesant."
