Matt & Kim | new video & Tour Dates

Yea Yeah (MP3) is one of my favorite tracks by Brooklyn duo, and Todd P regulars, Matt & Kim - I play it regularly on the "BrooklynVegan blog radio' show. Now the song has a video too - a video with a bunch of vegan and non-vegan food throwing, a moshing banana, and even some partial-nudity....

"Does it get any more adorable?" [YANP]

"Anyway, the reason I love the Matt and Kim version is the pure joy on the faces of Matt and (especially) Kim as they are splattered, and body slammed, with all sorts of foodstuffs." [without sound]

"And if you gag on their shrill, off-key, cutesy remedial nonsense, you can turn the volume off and watch people throw shit at them." [heartonastick]

Did anyone go see El Vez at the Mercury Lounge last night? I'm wondering what I missed.

They're like this live, too. I mean, not with the food, but always smiles ear to ear. And I'll bet if they're not coming close to you soon they want to, get in touch with them, they're touring machines and book all their own stuff. Show em some love!

i saw m&k at that scholes warehouse in the summer and fell in love. i downloaded 'yea yeah' and played the shit out of it and can still isten to it on repeat.

then i was in the record shop and saw their cd on sale, used, for 5.99. i thought it was strange that someone had sold the cd to a record shop already because it had just recently come out.

then i listened to the cd and i knew why. 'yea yeah' is their ONLY good song. the rest of it is SO bad. it sucks because they are so fun live and their positivity is so infectious. i wanted so bad to love the cd and wanted so badly for each song to fill me with joy the way 'yea yeah' does.

i am really sad about all of this.

i don't get the appeal. does energy and smiles=fun?
his voice is terrible and the song ridiculously basic and bad

Matt & Kim just played a set in Austin on a Sunday night with 40 degree weather lurking outside. Despite the cold, everyone was inside basking in the collective warmth of such a fun band. If their 'Yea Yeah' video put a smile on your face - check them out. It's fun for the young at heart.

Anon 7:18: totally agree.
I feel like I'm watching a talent show; that drummer's smiling her face off hoping no one will notice that they're music's about as interesting as a plate of spaghetti and meatballs. Plus, singers like 'Matt' are really a dime a dozen here in T.O. Everyone sings like that here. It's how you know they're 'indie'!

I'm not really into their music, but that video is exceedingly fun.

why doesn't anyone say that sort of shit about mates of state (who are not interesting, vaguely talented, but lively)?

It's too bad everyone thinks everyone else needs to be a Pavarotti to be good. Sometimes fun is better. And anyone who can like "Yeah Yea" and not the rest of the albumn has broken ears.

not too bad
