MTA to boost L, G lines service
"Starting next spring, New York City Transit will run more trains on the overcrowded L during both peak and off-peak hours. Then in 2008, the G train -- long called the "step child" of the MTA -- will begin running south to five more Brooklyn stops." [AM NY] (thx J)

I wouldn't call the L overcrowded. Except for the hipsters at Bedford Ave (who cares about them, they will move back to Ohio next year anyways), you can always get on a train, ever during peak rush. The same can't be said for the 4/5/7 and many others.
Forget Brooklyn, they should have the G continue to Forest Hills during the weekend.

G train represent!

Coming from someone who obviously doesn't fight to get on the L every morning.

the L's actually pretty crowded.

First of all, the hipsters are from Florida. And the L is extremely crowded. Also...the G is almost a joke so hopefully this will fix some of its problems.

What about dem hipsters, eh?
Am i right?
Send em back to Oklahoma.

Why is everyone referring to hipsters in the third person? If you're reading brooklynvegan, you are a hipster.

And yet I can properly refer to the class of individuals known as "Democrats" as such and be one myself. ie: Democrats are weenies!

Believe it or not, actual working class people live in Brooklyn too and they need reliable train service to and from work in Manhattan.

they need reliable train service &happen to read brookly vegan? yeah forty-five year old stockbrokers love to find out when explosions in the sky is playing.

The L train is rarely overcrowded compared to most other lines in the system. The only stop I can think of with problems is the Bedford stop, but if someone is dumb enough to pay stupid amounts amount of money to live in a slum, who cares if they wait?
Outside of service disruptions, the L train doesn't have problems.

yay!

Why just this morning I was unable to squeeze on to the L train. And I do not get on at Bedford.
PS--I wouldn't be surprised if there are 45 year old stockbrockers reading this site. Strangely, music is not just for young people with no job.

I agree completely.

working class and creative people live in East Williamsburg. Let the bankers at Bedford take a cab.

you young hipsters and non-hipsters have no right to complain...
when i was young hipster we didnt have any "L" train or a BrooklynVegan
we had to swim across the east river to get to the lower east side and then ask the local street-prostitute where to find the hottest new bands!
i no longer have to swim to see great shows but...i sure do miss that prostitute!

oh man...G train should run up through park slope! i wouldnt have to transfer from the F at Bergen anymore.

"oh man...G train should run up through park slope! i wouldnt have to transfer from the F at Bergen anymore."
That's exactly what its going to do - direct train from Williamsburg to Park Slope - from Northsix to Southpaw.
White people will never have to transfer in Brooklyn again.

worst time to take the L in the last train car brooklyn-bound? 4 pm.
Posted by meagan | December 5, 2006 6:29 PM
I think they really need an express train to run with the F... That train gets crowded and is slow....

>>"White people will never have to transfer in Brooklyn again."
And the black people? Where will they transfer? Are you telling me they'll have to take a shuttle bus?

God, some of you sound so negative and snobby - especially about the L train and the hipsters.
Get over it. It's so 2002 to complain about it.
the L train IS VERY CROWDED with all kinds of people from all walks of life, and more service is a good thing. I think that it would be great if you could take the G from williamsburg to Park Slope.
Maybe you need to proceed to your nearest DuMont establishment and stuff a cheese burger into your cranky, lack-of-protein, vitamin B12 and D deprived, whining broccoli hole.

"White people will never have to transfer in Brooklyn again."
If by never again you mean until the G train resumes normal service in 2010---it's only going 5 more stops due to temporary construction.
