ugh. the knife?! ALBUM OF THE YEAR?
i want the hold steady in the top 3.
there is no reason for BYOP to be on this list at all. the decemberists should be higher than #41.

"there is no reason for BYOP to be on this list at all."

I can think of one reason: Straight male hipsters have the hots for Jemima Pearl.

these lists all prove that 2006 sucked and everyone listens to the same garbage.

i dig did that beach house cd lots though.

remember when pitchfork's list was cutting edge? Either they've moved to the center or everyone else moved left. And when I say center I don't mean Rolling Stone center (chili peppers #2!)

Sorry... any list that doesn't include The Sword - "Age of Winters" is pretty much moot. I know this incredible band doesn't fall into the "hipster rock" category, but c'mon...

umm, sorry but... any shitty list that doesn't include the Teutonic Klezmer Micron Band's limited edition EP (not the bonus tracks reissue) "The Meniscus of Love" is totally meaningless to me, and, frankly, should be disregarded totally on objective standards of taste and aesthetic worth.
jesus people. grow some fucking ears.

yeah: fuck end of the year lists and fuck you.

"jesus people. grow some fucking ears."

dude... if you don't think every "indie list" in the world basically lists the same f'ing albums as every other one in different order, I'm sorry for you. But what do I know.

Nothing the Teutonic Klezmer Micron Band do now or in the future, including BOTH versions of the limited edition EP ,will ever top their lathe-cut debut 10", of which only 40 were cut. Fortunately I bought thirty of them. "Equine Canker Lisp Watch" is almost as good as the best Captain Beefheart. Fo' real.

i think Jet "Shine On" is the album of the year!

No Rod Stewart???

The Knife is also my best album of the year. That album is not a simple compilation of songs, it's a trip! And I do like Pitchfork list, and a lot.

'The Sword - "Age of Winters"...doesn't fall into the "hipster rock" category'

someone really has no fucking clue what they're talking about! yes it's a good record but you're totally retarded if you don't think that they're anything BUT hipster rock. them and Early Man lead the hipster metal frontlines...while Mastodon remain pretty real deal with the metalheads. good for them.

pitchfork is boring. justin timberlake? give me a timberbreak. no good?

egg,

Regarding your 30 10" T.K.M EPs -- shit, i've got a double disc DVD of the Sweat Sacs, live in Yucatan -- original line up, before anus jones od'd -- & I'll totally trade it for a few copies. your call man.
re: "equine canker" -- this is a triumphant cut, no doubt. any song with the lyric "my horsemeat is your godmeat" earns plent of my lovin. But -- i'm all about "love crust". the Bloc Party drummer has admitted to copping half his moves from that cut alone. fucking epic.
