Andrew Bird @ Bowery Ballroom, NYC | pics
DOWNLOAD: Andrew Bird - A Nervous Tic Motion of the Head to the Left (MP3)

Andrew Bird (& band) played a set of "mostly new stuff" to a sold out crowd at Bowery Ballroom in NYC last night (Jan 17, 2007). His new stuff comes out on March 20th on an album called Armchair Apocrypha on the record label Fat Possum.
The new album "Armchair Apocrypha" is finished, and will be released worldwide on March 20, 2007. Click here to read a bit more about the recording in process... we will be sneak previewing new tracks and etc in the new year.Andrew's drummer was Martin Dosh.Meanwhile, Fingerlings 3 is out now! It includes live selections from the new album, a few studio outtakes, as well as other tracks from the last few years.

Dosh wrote my favorite new song that they played. Not surprisingly - it had really strong drumming. Dosh has his own stuff going on too.
Andrew's collaborator extraordinaire Dosh's new album "The Lost Take" is in stores now. It features contributions from members of Fog, Tapes N' Tapes, Happy Apple, and Mr. Bird. Here's a video of Andrew & Dosh from another show.

They opened the show with one of Andrew's best songs - "Nervous Tic" - download it above.

Yeah, it would've been nice if we got more from Mysterious Production. I knew it was odd he opened with "Nervous Tic". Well, at least I got to see him on tour for that album. Plus we got "Capital i"

It's so unfair that Andrew Bird is so incredibly good-looking in addition to being a fucking virtuoso. Anyone know who that was playing bass with him?

The bass player's name was Jeremy...something I couldn't pronounce and thus can't recall. All I remember is that he will henceforth be known as Nighthanger the Lyrical Owl.

was that a royal tenenbaum's intro that came late in the show?

I found this show to be very disappointing. Such is usually the case when an artist is trying out new songs with audiences. The Birdman was flirting with new and difficult arrangements that were seemingly unpolished and out of sync with the rest of the band that night, in this listener's opinion. A lesson to be learned to all artists: Stick to playing what's been recorded, so people can get into it. You'll have plenty of time to play your new songs on the album tour.
