Posted by DrJimmy | January 5, 2007 9:33 AM

I got shutout this morning and hung out in the "Virtual Waiting Room"

Posted by Dave Park | January 5, 2007 9:33 AM

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 9:33 AM

UM THOSE FUCKING TICKETS SOLD OUT LIKE IN 5 MINUTES AND IT WAS FUCKED UP I WAS IN A STUPID FUCKING VIRTUAL WAITING ROOM AND FOR NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING

GODDAMN IT

:-(

Posted by pissed off | January 5, 2007 9:34 AM

Sold out....

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 9:34 AM

SOLD OUT within 12 minutes... dammit! I should've stayed in bed.

Posted by Oliver | January 5, 2007 9:34 AM

so basically one reason this site doesn't crash anymore is because everything gets put in a line to happen (too much happening at once = crash). That's why comments don't appear right away every time. And that's why this #@$# post just took over 30 minutes to show up. :(

Did anyone get tix?

Posted by brooklynvegan | January 5, 2007 9:35 AM

FUCK THE VIRTUAL WAITING ROOM!

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 9:36 AM

stupid bedford ave hipsters...keep the hate going!

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 9:36 AM

i'll trade a ticket to peter bjorn and john on monday jan. 29 at mercury lounge for one ticket to arcade fire, either thursday, friday, or saturday.

no luck here on arcade fire.

Posted by Erik | January 5, 2007 9:36 AM

It's 9:40 and I'm still in a virtual waiting room.... Once again the system works!

Posted by Still Waiting... | January 5, 2007 9:36 AM

Terrible. Every time I thought I got through and got a chance to enter a verification code, I got shut down again.

Posted by Nick | January 5, 2007 9:36 AM

plus the virtual toilets in the virtual waiting room were clogged.

Posted by poo | January 5, 2007 9:37 AM

tickets. com needs to be taken out back and shot for that travesty of a sale.

Posted by matt | January 5, 2007 9:38 AM

I got into the actual room, selected 2, hit submit...and it kicked me back to the virtual waiting room. I think the virtual waiting room then when to my apartment and kicked my dog when it was done.

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 9:38 AM

boooooooooo virtual waiting rooms

Posted by rachael | January 5, 2007 9:38 AM

I got to the point of selecting 2 tickets and entering a security code, then it said "high trafficking volume, please try submitting your request" resubmitted 100 times

this is radiohead all over again :(

who got tickets?

Posted by wtf | January 5, 2007 9:39 AM

Such shite. Craigslist here we go...

Posted by Chelsea | January 5, 2007 9:39 AM

Sold out very quickly. Tickets.com's Virtual Waiting Room is the worst BTW. I got 2 tickets went to the confirmation screen, got kicked out and lost my 2 tickets. Then I got put back in the "waiting room" which forced you to refresh every 30 seconds and after a few minutes I saw the message sold out. Sucks.

Posted by Joe | January 5, 2007 9:39 AM

I got tickets for the Tuesday show. I wanted Thursday but like others I was stuck in the virtual waiting room.

Posted by MP | January 5, 2007 9:40 AM

Got out of the virtual waiting room. But was then stuck in another waiting room trying to submit my request for tix. This went on for 10 minutes and was still shut out.

Posted by king of fresno | January 5, 2007 9:40 AM

worst ticket company ever

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 9:41 AM

Shut out. That on sale sucked. Stupid tickets.com

Posted by ryan - freshbread | January 5, 2007 9:41 AM

that was the worst ticket buying experience I've ever had. of course I didn't get any.

Posted by Jennifer | January 5, 2007 9:42 AM

This was way fucked up. I hate this small site general sales. Tickets went on sale three minutes before 9 am and even then I got the virtual room nonsense. Check ebay for a pair of "undetermined date" tickets for a thousand bucks. None of my friends got tickets either. I wonder who were the lucky ones who bought them...

Posted by me | January 5, 2007 9:43 AM

Sitting in the waiting ro-ooooom. (ah-ahhhhh)
Sitting in the waiting ro-ooooom. (ah-ahhhhh)

Posted by jerry | January 5, 2007 9:43 AM

The tickets are GA; I'm wondering if there's gonna be chairs or not. Has anyone been to a big performance at the church before?

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 9:43 AM

i got wed and my friend got tues...can't even believe it!!!

Posted by maria | January 5, 2007 9:43 AM

Got two for Friday.

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 9:43 AM

I said this in the other post that. I found it rather easy. I got ticket to Tuesday and my friends who tried all got tickets. But these things are kind of just dumb luck.

Posted by danfun | January 5, 2007 9:44 AM

not to be mean or anything but:

why are any of you surprised? Sounds like it took 4 minutes longer than expected to sell out if they sold out in 5 minutes.

Anyway, if you want to be a part of that RIDICULOUS scene that will certainly ensue those nights, put a 2nd mortgage on your house and get at ticket in the aftermarket.

Posted by birdboy | January 5, 2007 9:44 AM

yeah that sucked. who actually got tickets?

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 9:44 AM

unbelievable. only about 70 want ads on craigslist.

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 9:45 AM

damn it. Ok, I know that the new album has a churchy sound to it but they better not pull this shit the next time they come into town.

Posted by tim | January 5, 2007 9:45 AM

That virtual waiting room stuff was the worst. It would have been fine if it actually saved your place in line, but it was just an automatic refresh page. Also, having the waiting room stuff pop up in the purchasing process, after quantity was selected, was just nonsense. It ruined the whole thing and sent me back to the beginning.

Posted by Charlie | January 5, 2007 9:46 AM

I was trying with three other friends to get tix. Around 8:58 I clicked on just to check and got sent to the virtual waiting room. I eventually got 2 for friday, but all my other friends got shut out

Posted by sam | January 5, 2007 9:46 AM

Five minutes? Try five seconds. I had myself going in a virtual waiting room for every single night using three different browsers (figuring whichever night got through first would be the one I went to), and I didn't even come close. Got to the point of selecting the number of tickets, but then it kept crapping out on me. Not surprising at all, of course, but can't these ticket dealers buy some more frigging server space??

Posted by Matt | January 5, 2007 9:47 AM

I got one for Wednesday.

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 9:48 AM

wow i think i'm the only one who managed to get tickets for friday and saturday! tee hee

Posted by lucky bastard! | January 5, 2007 9:49 AM

Wow i am very luck. I scored two tickets for saturday night. Yea has anyone been to this church before for a concert? is it seated cuz it says im seats 14 and 15. I hope thats good. Sorry for everyone that lucked out. I know how you feel.

Posted by Daniil | January 5, 2007 9:50 AM

that was the worst ticket buying experience I've ever had. of course I didn't get any.

Posted by Jennifer | January 5, 2007 9:50 AM

I got 2 for the 14th then noticed that it was Valentines Day and I had to decline them. My girlfriend would cut my balls off if I miss Valentines Day. Shit....

Posted by Pete | January 5, 2007 9:51 AM

Went to tickets.com at about 5 mins. to 9, and registered for their site. Checked for tix, and was kicked into the virtual waiting room. When it turned 9am, and I was still in the waiting room, I went back to their main page, looked up the AF tix again, and immediately got tix for Wed.

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 9:51 AM

I got a ticket for Tuesday pretty easily. I made sure I registered to Tickets.com beforehand.

Sucks about that virtual waiting room.

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 9:52 AM

***Slowly raising hand***

Posted by MusicSnobbery | January 5, 2007 9:53 AM

got tix for wednesday without much difficulty. cirtual waiting room seemed like a good way to handle the demand. at least they didnt pull the old "now you have em, now you dont" ticketweb nonsense.

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 9:53 AM

Aren't the tickets non-transferable? How is that going to work with the craigslist and ebay scenes?

Posted by Tim | January 5, 2007 9:54 AM

"stupid bedford ave hipsters...keep the hate going!"

the amount of people getting on at bedford was a little light this morning actually.

Posted by not a bedford guy | January 5, 2007 9:55 AM

hey,
but how many of you have tickets to peter bjorn and john at mercury lounge. just trade me an arcade fire ticket and you can have one.
peter bjorn and john will be better anyway.

awww poor baby had to sit in front of her computer and hit [return]. ever waited all night on line? are real line, not on-line.

Posted by jeff | January 5, 2007 9:57 AM

The tickets.com thing was a travesty! I was in the process of ordering twice and got kicked back out both times. Even worse though is the assholes on eBay selling tickets for $999!!!

Posted by Pat | January 5, 2007 9:58 AM

Yeah, this wasn't all that bad. Basically, if you went in a couple minutes before 9, sat in the "waiting room" for a couple of minutes and then clicked the right buttons, it all went pretty smoothly. I got 2 for Friday. Trying to get Met's playoff tickets was a nightmare--this wasn't all that bad.

Posted by stupidbedfordavehipster | January 5, 2007 10:03 AM

"Aren't the tickets non-transferable? How is that going to work with the craigslist and ebay scenes?"

I sold some tickets to CBGB's that were will call. The way I did it was to have someone (yourself) meet the 2 people at the venue who are buying the tickets. You show your credit card to the people who are checking the will call lists. Then you point to the 2 people that bought the tickets, they get let in and the ticket seller goes home. This might or might not still work, I guess it depends on the venue.

Posted by Joe | January 5, 2007 10:08 AM

virtual waiting room!!!

but seriously, the tickets are non-transferable and you could only buy two. who the hell is going to jack up the price enough to make a profit and say, meet me at the show?! that's nutty, and as far as i can tell, that is the only way to profit from this.

Posted by Ellen | January 5, 2007 10:08 AM

i got two for valentine's day. so excited. you basically just had to get to the page a couple minutes early and it started the waiting room then.

i don't understand the craigslist/ebay thing because they're will call...

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 10:12 AM

I got two tickets! W00t!

Fishy!

still waiting...

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 10:16 AM

That was a frustrating experience. Rushed to work to get here early, got stuck in traffic, and went online, just to sit in the waiting room while my friend did the same thing. Guess I'll have to figure out something else for Valentine's Day.
What is the seating capacity for this place?

Posted by Kurt C. | January 5, 2007 10:16 AM

this was the worst ON LINE ticket buying experience I've ever had. I gotta give credit to Ticketmaster - their site doesn't have ANY of the problems I've experienced this am. Sure they charge the hell out of consumers for excessive fees, but gotta tell you, if they were running this process, tickets would've sold out faster but everyone logging in at 9 probably would've had a better / equal shot.

Sure, I've been locked out before, but NEVER in the Ticketbastard process do you reach the point of having virtual tickets in your virtual hand and then get some random error message of too many subsequent orders.

Tickets.com = not ready for Arcade Fire or other popular bands.

Posted by Kevin | January 5, 2007 10:17 AM

i had three computers going and still couldn't get a ticket!

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 10:18 AM

Agree that it should have sold out in 1 minute vs 5 minutes. I think the system worked fine. I would rather have the CHANCE to see a band I like at a small venue (even if I don't actually get tix) than deal with a thousands of other people and a crappy view.

So you didn't get tickets, take it in stride and quit being negative.

Posted by MDK | January 5, 2007 10:18 AM

I went in exactly at 9:00. What the hell is a virtual waiting room. Tickets.com made TM and ticketweb look good. Well, I guess I will see Arcade Fire at the Garden. At least I saw them at Irving Plaza.

Posted by Adam | January 5, 2007 10:21 AM

Weren't the tickets Will-call-only and non-transferrable?

Posted by andrew | January 5, 2007 10:22 AM

I'm still in the 2nd waiting room (10:30 am). Did anyone else wait nearly this long and still get a ticket?

Posted by Curious | January 5, 2007 10:25 AM

Some dood is offering 500 for a pair to saturday night which i have. Tempting... but i really want to see them.

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 10:25 AM

That ebay auction just went for $2025! How did the guy know he would have tickets before they went on sale??

some awesome quotes from the auction page:

"You are bidding on 2 tickets to see The Arcade Fire live in New York, NY in February 2007.
I WILL UPDATE THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE WITH THE EXACT DATE OF THE SHOW!!!"

"Bidders: New York state law limits the resale ticket price for this event location.
This means that bidding will end when the price reaches $2897.10. See eBay's ticket policy."

"IF THESE ARE WILL CALL ONLY TICKETS - I WILL MEET YOU AT THE VENUE AND WALK YOU AND YOUR GUEST INTO THE SHOW!!!!"

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 10:25 AM

I'm not sure how the ebay thing would work. They're will-call only and non-transferable.

I would gladly sell my tickets for the (apparently) going ebay rate. I mean, I love the band and I'm excited about the show, but I'm not $1,000-a-head excited about the show.

But, even still: if the tickets are will-call AND nontransferable, how would that work?

I understand that in will-call only situations you could walk someone up to the box office, show your credit card and ID, and let your two ticket buyers in. But if the tickets are non-transferable, then doesn't that mean that one of the ticket holders HAS to be the ticket buyer?

Am I wrong about this?

Posted by Stephen | January 5, 2007 10:30 AM

beware of Stephen the scalper!

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 10:31 AM

"the amount of people getting on at bedford was a little light this morning actually."

Have you ever noticed the people who get on at Bedford Ave in the pre-9AM rush hour these days? They're just business casual-dressed heteronormative post-college kids who think that last YYYs album was pretty rocking.

It's been all about the Morgan stop for ages now.

Posted by G | January 5, 2007 10:31 AM

Got 2 for thursday...Did someone say that they wanted to trade for a Tuesday?

I basically opened up a window for each day and took whatever came first.

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 10:34 AM

MORRRRRGAN STOP WOOP WOOP!

I'd shout out for Brooklyn's Natural, but they have a markup of like 30% over whole foods, which is already wallet-crushingly expesnive.

Posted by Stephen | January 5, 2007 10:36 AM

Or you could realize, I guess, that the Arcade Fire is terribly overrated, they caught lightning in a barrel for six months when Funeral came out, and their next album is bound to disappoint. Save your money, or more importantly, save your angst.

Posted by Tom | January 5, 2007 10:38 AM

WTF????????????
I wonder how many tickets were really on sale? Was it thousands of people trying to get 100s of tickets. Bad odds and a bad site=bad combo.

Posted by Tiffany | January 5, 2007 10:38 AM

regarding the will-call policy:

Arcade Fire made the following announcement when their shows were sold out and scalped in England.

"Due to overwhelming demand for The Arcade Fire London shows, we would like to advise fans that we will be releasing some tickets for sale prior to doors opening for each London show," the band wrote in a statement.

"There will also be extra shows announced soon giving more people the opportunity to see the band perform. Please don't encourage the touts. Wherever we have email addresses and ticket numbers for sellers we will cancel the tickets and put them back up for sale on show day. Please don't buy from them and risk your tickets being cancelled."

If this is the same approach they take here, that ebay seller is going to have to void his sale and somebody is going to be pretty pissed off when turned away at the venue.

Posted by birdboy | January 5, 2007 10:39 AM

I got 2 tix!! But yeah, tickets.com's "system" definetly sucks...I was lucky.

Posted by Modern Girl | January 5, 2007 10:40 AM

HELP

I got past the first waiting room, selected my pair of tickets, then was put into another waiting room. I'm STILL in that second waiting room, losing hope that i still might get my tix, but terrified to close the window and move on with my life. Did ANY of you lucky ticketholders get them in the past 20 min or so?

Posted by For the Love of God | January 5, 2007 10:47 AM

I got two tickets for Valentine's Day show. But I have to agree with everyone on the board. The buying experience totally sucked.

There has got to be a better way for bands to play these small shows for their "fans," than this sort refresh your browser and pray bullshit. For example, how about they put a contest on their website, and give out the 2500 tickets randomly. Clearly, Bowery would still make their money, fans would get to see the show, and the rest who don't score don't have to wake up at 9am to be frustrated.

Posted by Jackson | January 5, 2007 10:48 AM

if the church seats 400, there could only be 2000 tickets in total. it was just bad odds, guys, quit whining about it.

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 10:58 AM

i logged on at exactly 9 a.m., got 2 tickets for thursday, no waiting room or anything. luck of the draw i guess!

waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh!!!

It was nice hanging out with all of you in the waiting room. Would have been nice to see you all at the show though!

Posted by My Side of the Creek | January 5, 2007 11:07 AM

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! That was fun.

Posted by jerry | January 5, 2007 11:07 AM

when did the band get this big? even summerstage took about two days to sell out.

at what point did demand for this band rival that of radiohead?

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 11:16 AM

Well summerstage was a year and a half ago. So thats alot of new fans the band could have gained in the meantime. Plus - do we even know how many people this church holds??

Posted by Bianca | January 5, 2007 11:22 AM

alright, alright great. most people couldn't score. some lucky few did. that is already the well-established theme of the 80+ posts here. why don't we call it a day and get back to work now.

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 11:23 AM

"when did the band get this big? even summerstage took about two days to sell out."

Summerstage = 5000 tickets?

Judson Church x 5 nights = maybe 1500 on sale TOTAL?

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 11:23 AM

I was at work and had my girlfriend try for me. I brought my laptop to work to try, 9 came she had 4 windows up i had 6 i was trying for tuesday and saturday but nothing came. At 9:13 i was going to just go back to work but she suddenly scored one for tuesday. That website was truly ridiculous. Its like when tool had their shows. they put these high demand shows through websites with shitty capacities.

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 11:25 AM

--I'd shout out for Brooklyn's Natural, but they have a markup of like 30% over whole foods, which is already wallet-crushingly expesnive.--

Their beer prices are the most laughable. I would like to meet whoever the hell is actually paying $12 for six packs of Magic Hat; which, incidentally, sell for about $8 on Bedford or Wyckoff. If you don't feel like getting on the train, then just grow some balls and enjoy an El Presidente or a Hollandia rather than supporting the iron fist wielding monopoly that is Bk Natural. I bet they will be buying tickets to all the Arcade Fire shows off of Craigslist and then not even going to a few of them because they got too drunk off of Hennessy XXO or something.

Posted by bill | January 5, 2007 11:25 AM

whatever.
as of 9:03 this morning, i hate the arcade fire.

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 11:26 AM

You are all a bunch of hipster idiots! This band sucks, has totally sold out, and here yall are crying and complaining because you dont get hipster cred for going to any of the shows.

Where was this sort of outrage during the last presidential election?

Posted by WTF | January 5, 2007 11:27 AM

hey just out of curiosity, who hates the virtual waiting room?

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 11:30 AM

Curious about resale opportunities, I've been looking around at my confirmation e-mail and stuff, which includes the text:

"Tickets will not be available for pick up prior to the event. You must have your ID and Credit Card to claim your order upon entry to the venue. Tickets are non-transferable."

So my thinking is that there will be no physical tickets and you won't be able to just point out two people entering the venue in your stead. Granted, one could take whoever on the second ticket, but if the tickets are non-transferable and the Arcade Fire has a history of being hard-assed about resales, I bet that when people go to the show one of the two entrants *must be* the credit card holder.

If anyone on here bought tickets on ebay or through craigslist, I'd be interested to hear their experience post-concert.

Posted by Stephen | January 5, 2007 11:32 AM

Dude, in the last presidential election it was much easier to get Arcade Fire tickets.

Posted by bill | January 5, 2007 11:38 AM

HAHAHA

Posted by Bianca | January 5, 2007 11:40 AM

you all make me happy i can't stand the arcade fire.

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 11:41 AM

Realistically there are only about 300 seats available per night when you take out the 150 or more that the band likely reserves for David Bowie and friends. That's about 1500 TOTAL tickets. 99.999% of drooling hipsters buy 2 tickets the second they catch a window (except of course for that monstrous pussy who got two tickets for Valentine's Day and refused them), so that's about 750 people that are actually going to get through. Whether it's a virtual waiting room or not, Tickets.com or not... you're fucked.

Posted by mav | January 5, 2007 11:42 AM

This exact thing happened to me when I tried buying Raconteurs tix from shitmaster. The tix were literally gone within the first minute, yet I saw notes on craigslist and ebay from sellers, not even in NY mind you, that of course had some in their possesion.

It just goes to show when a band gets big, the record company and execs get first shot then they'll just send whatever they dont use off to the brokers, thereby shitty on the fans who made the band big in the first place.

This is why Pearl Jam tried to fight the evil empire in the first place!

Posted by Jack Benson | January 5, 2007 11:45 AM

I agree with anonymous up a few posts.

I think Arcade Fire would be heroes if they went "all the way" with this non-transferable process. A couple bouncers at the door checking IDs saying "on the ticket here, it says John Smith, you're not John Smith, sorry, we're going to have to deny you entry" That's non-transferable. Trust me, the bouncers would love rejecting all of these scalped ticket buyers.

I know that this won't happen and touts and buyers will live happily ever after, but if Arcade Fire somehow enforced this next step of the process, and buyers got screwed and in turn were able to get refunds from scalpers (or not) - it would be a real revolution in stopping black market ticket sales.

A million other bands in the world that I wouldn't hold this hope for.

Posted by Kevin | January 5, 2007 11:48 AM

without a secondary market, there would be no other way to get into the show, which sucks far far worse than having to pay an extra two hundred dollars or so.

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 11:52 AM

The Stones had it right (never thought I'd say that) at the Beacon. Buy a ticket, pick up a wristband the day before. No ticket, no wristband, no name on list = no entry. It's a lot of effort but this is something that needs to be addressed.

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 11:53 AM

to a previous poster:

does the band suck, or did they sell out? i just want to be clear.

oh, and fuck off, they're the best band in the world.

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 11:56 AM

Relax ..
The Arcade Fire are probably going to play NYC about 5 more times before the year is out.. Spending $200+ on tickets is crazy & its why scapling (in any form) exists. No demand...no supply

Posted by rt | January 5, 2007 12:06 PM

Nah, you fuck off---they are nothing but the illegitimate baby of Pitchforks (and hipsters worldwide) homogenized and bland musical tastes. Oooh an accordion, thats so different, they're sooooo cool!

To the guy who declined the tickets because they were for the show on Valentine's Day:
Your girlfriend is an idiot. I *wish* I had a bf who'd give me Arcade Fire tickets for V Day!

I actually liked Tickets.com's virtual waiting room. It seemed more fair than say Ticketweb, which just locks you out. At least this site had a queue. I logged on at 8:57 and got 2 tickets for Saturday. It was pretty painless. Though it sucks that they went on sale *before* 9am.

I'm trying to decide whether I should keep my tickets and go, or sell them to the guys on craigslist offering ***$3,000***. That would pay for a pretty sweet vacation...

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 12:12 PM

i bought tix for valentines day... I'd trade them for a girlfriend who would "cut my balls off".

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 12:15 PM

I don't know why all you hipsters are crying because I got 48 tickets to sale and it was that easy of a thing. Perhaps you should check ebay or craiglist or here but we are not looking for anything less then 600 a ticket. What you would spend that on a pair of my old jeans so why not my tickets? Also if a show has less then 400 tickets for sale and you don't get them how is that anyone else's fault but your own? Perhaps you should get on your fixed gear bike ride from Williamsburg to Bed-Sty and tell someone who cares?

Thing was there was no queue. It was all random luck when you refreshed. Not that it really mattered since 10,000 people probably jumped on the queue at percisely 9:00am.

If you search for Arcade Fire on tickets.com, you will find a link that still works. I just got tickets for Thursday.

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 12:26 PM

The Arcade Fire is good. They are not great or amazing.
I don't remember people flipping out when they didn't sell out the Mercury Lounge two years ago.

These shows are getting overblown with hype.

Posted by dstroganoff | January 5, 2007 12:30 PM

theres no tickets available on tickets.com....

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 12:34 PM

I couldn't get tickets for Saturday, but it worked for Wednesday. Thanks!

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 12:48 PM

what does non transferable mean when it comes to these tickets? like will there be paper tickets handed out at will call or just a list with your name.

Posted by Daniil | January 5, 2007 12:56 PM

You know the best way to actually do this? Have a real line. With, you know, people. Like in the old days. Then no one could complain about who is a more hardcore fan. You could still do it as a will call only event and it would keep it mad real. From a personal standpoint I want nothing to do with a real line. I'm old and tired and my friend scored tickets to Saturday's show, but it would be the coolest and most fair way.

Posted by old school | January 5, 2007 12:58 PM

Nine out of ten times, non-transferrable is just an empty threat.

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 1:01 PM

"non transferable" means shut the fuk up scalper

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 1:02 PM

why does liking the Arcade Fire mean someone's a hipster? what's wrong with being a fan of a band whose music happens to mean something to you? the kids listening to bands like Bauhaus, REM, and Joy Division back in the mid-80's weren't hipsters. they (we) were kids who didn't find anything we liked in the other music that was out there. it wasn't necessarily a fact of snubbing "the mainstream" so much as it was just finding music that we liked. similarly, i'm not a fan because i'm tryng to be hip. i like a lot of popular music. i just happen to like the arcade fire because it just happens to be good music. so maybe lighten up a bit, folks. i imagine there are a lot of fans just like me.

Jesus christ. im not scalping the tickets Im just interested in how the scalpers would go about doing it

Posted by daniil | January 5, 2007 1:14 PM

*ALL 5 ARCADE FIRE SHOWS ARE SOLD OUT*
TICKETS ARE NON-TRANSFERABLE. The ticket purchaser must enter the venue. Copies of ID, Credit Card or Confirmation email WILL NOT be accepted for entry. Only complete parties will be
admitted. No exceptions. Please DO NOT buy tickets on eBay, Craig's List, etc. YOU WILL NOT BE ADMITTED!

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 1:15 PM

church burnings now seem like a great idea

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 1:16 PM

If you think this is hysteria just wait until the warm up shows LCD Soundsystem play at my house. I'm selling all the tickets in the virtual waiting room and I ain't letting anybody transfer shit unless its drugs or underage women. See you there, herbs.

First the OC was cancelled, and now this.
WORST WEEK EVER!!

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 1:26 PM

But i used my step dads credit card to buy and im taking my girlfriend. what do i have to do? I thought he could just get us in by showing his credit card and id. Or can I just bring his id and credit card?

Posted by daniil | January 5, 2007 1:27 PM

Hahahaha, mamas boy doesnt even have the funds to go and now new daddy might have to take his girlfriend to the rock show. Awwww.

Posted by LOL | January 5, 2007 1:35 PM

i never even heard this band before...but i can guarentee you that those tickets didnt really sell for over $2000...usually when you see the prices go insane like that on ebay it is because there is a person with a fake account pissed at the scalpers and he enters in the highest bid strictly to ruin the auction.

Posted by Greg | January 5, 2007 1:47 PM

I'm setting up a virtual waiting room for my extra Vday ticket. But sorry chaps, this is strictly ladybait.

Posted by CmcD | January 5, 2007 2:08 PM

so what time did they actually go on sale?

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 2:26 PM

> I couldn't get tickets for Saturday, but it worked for Wednesday. Thanks!

Same here. Woohoo!

Posted by Anonymous | January 5, 2007 2:30 PM

did anyone else get charged TWICE for tix??? I have two charges of $68 and change on my bank account for only 2 tix.

Posted by carla | January 5, 2007 2:36 PM

^^^^ that happened to me. it will be off your card tomorrow and for the record it is not a charge it is a hold. Doesn't effect your credit card balance either.

Posted by credit charge | January 5, 2007 4:25 PM

i got tixx!

Posted by Shawn | January 5, 2007 5:40 PM

"...usually when you see the prices go insane like that on ebay it is because there is a person with a fake account pissed at the scalpers and he enters in the highest bid strictly to ruin the auction."

Hmm, that's pretty comforting, but that trick has probably inflated the price of all tickets that will be scalped for this show. If I were a scalper and saw two tickets go for two thousand, I'd be asking a hell of a lot more money for my tickets. Hopefully, the non-transferrable aspect of the ticket will fuck these guys over, but where there is a will there is a way.

This does seem like the obverse of the illegal download. Pay nothing for the recordings (because of the internet) pay a small fortune for the live show (because of the internet).

Posted by aaronfromqueens | January 6, 2007 4:36 AM

fuck
nothing

Posted by Anonymous | January 6, 2007 9:24 AM

FYI - All ticket sites re-release some extra tickets after the initial sale. These tickets are usually the result of denied credit cards. Congrats to the people here that scored them.

Also, a day or two before the date of the show, tickets sometimes open up as unused promo tickets get returned.
