Bright Eyes signed a deal with Polydor
I asked why the notoriously indie Bright Eyes' new website is being run by Universal. Someone was nice enough to email in with the answer - it's because Bright Eyes just signed a huge deal with Polydor Records UK - a Universal label. Polydor is also home to Gwen Stefani, Snoop Dogg, Scissor Sisters and Eminem. More confirmation:
Conor Oberst recently penned a deal with Polydor in the UK to release Bright Eyes records worldwide excluding N. America where Conor and co. remain on their hometown label Saddle Creek records in Omaha, Nebraska. [Between Planets]Bright Eyes' upcoming album includes "guest performances from M.Ward, Gillian Welch and Janet Weiss of Sleater-Kinney. Titled “Cassadaga”, the album is due for release in the UK on 9th April 2007." April 10 in the U.S.
Other people are signing deals too.

This is so strange to me. Wikipedia lists him as a cofounder of Saddle Creek. I guess they just don't have the distribution channels to get their stuff out worldwide? Can someone fill me in?

Hasn't he had a distro deal with Sony in Japan for years now? Or did that end?

He also has a publishing deal with Sony/ATV.
Give the guy a break and stop tossing around that sellout word like it's going out of style.

I believe the person who used the term "sellout" was being sarcastic.

I believe the person resonding to the sellout comment was speaking in general terms, Mr. Literal.

Yeah, sarcasm is extremely effective online.
See I was being sarcastic...
and it didn't work.

Hey, here's something non-sarcastic:
Bright Eyes sucks.

He's got an interior intent.
What may that be? "No One Would Riot For Less" scrapes the tables clean, and states what could be... and therefore may be clibming the ladder for humanity means of future existence. Could this be so?
