Camping out for Sufjan Stevens tickets in DC
DOWNLOAD: Sufjan Stevens - Sister Winter (MP3)
"waiting outside the kennedy center at 4:30 in the morning to get tickets to the Sufjan Stevens Concert. Man it was cold. There was supposedly like 3000 people out there. Only the first 1000 or so got them." [tmuff's flickr]

"Check out both the triumphant and the whining bloggers". [Vinyl Mine]
"Well, I figured the line would be long, but I had no idea that thousands of people would brave freezing temperatures to camp out overnight for tickets." [Pop Candy] (thx J)

Please tell me this is a joke. 4,000 people sleeping out for SUFJAN STEVENS? Has the George W. Bush administration really done this much damage to our country?

The tickets were free and he's playing with the orchestra. I think ti'd be a cool show, but not worth the 8+ hours in the cold. A bunch of tix are/were on craigslist for 300/pair...they get flagged like crazy now though.

free show. free booze (though that hasnt been advertised). and he's playing with the national orchestra.
oh and it wasnt that cold. it actually was pretty damned fun. a nice sunrise, some nice people, and now i've got two free tickets. there are worse ways to spend your saturday mornings.

I agree. It's it more effective to work for 8 hours and just buy tickets normally the next time he comes around? It's all about math people.

"I hope you got tix Arakias!"
I did indeed. I think they were among some of the last 30 sets given out. And fortunately, it wasnt that cold at least compared to New England winters.
