"isn't CWK and Illinois at Mercury?"
doors for this show are 12:30 am.
Posted by Anonymous | January 24, 2007 12:38 PM
I got a confirmation for 2 tickets when the order went through though I had to refresh about 100 times. The show doesn't start until 12:30 am. ??? no confirmation email though which worries me.
Posted by badger | January 24, 2007 12:39 PM

Posted by mb | January 24, 2007 12:43 PM
just when you want to hate them for selling out and becoming too big (hammerstein..really??), they do something like this.
should be an awesome show!
Posted by Anonymous | January 24, 2007 12:45 PM
I got 2.
Posted by anon | January 24, 2007 12:45 PM
" got a pair. whether i'll still be awake for it remains to be seen"
and your plans if you fall asleep? to waste two tickets?
Posted by Anonymous | January 24, 2007 12:48 PM
the band posted on myspace about this (although probably after it was already sold out anyways), but they do mention the that cold war kids show is seperate from this
Posted by nora | January 24, 2007 12:48 PM
How much were the tickets?
Posted by Price | January 24, 2007 12:52 PM
10 bucks. 12.50 with fees.
Posted by Re: Price | January 24, 2007 12:53 PM
Maybe because its the only venue they can sell out these days ?
I heard Hammerstein wasnt very full & the $50 a ticket benefit at Bowery didnt even sellout..... not a good start for their year...
Posted by J Y O | January 24, 2007 12:53 PM
yeah missed out on this one.. this is what happens when you decide to go eat lunch instead of stalking brooklynvegan..
Posted by anon | January 24, 2007 12:55 PM
damn it. got one. need one more. hell.
Posted by john b. | January 24, 2007 12:58 PM
people still listen to this overrated band?
Posted by Anonymous | January 24, 2007 12:58 PM
Is that extra ticket still available? Does anyone else have any extras
Posted by Ami | January 24, 2007 12:59 PM
Extras anyone?
Posted by ami | January 24, 2007 1:02 PM
Can some one confirm that it was a 4 ticket limit per person? I got two, but had to get them separately, and don't want to get screwed trying to get someone else in.
Posted by Anonymous | January 24, 2007 1:08 PM

Hopefully CWK stick around. But any show beginning at 12:30am on a Wednesday night/Thursday morning what have you is insane, 38 and officially old and over it. If you have a normal job which means going in by 9am and you got to this show, you are a better man/woman than me. Enjoy. Maybe they can play a 7pm afterwork set next week.
Posted by rescueblues | January 24, 2007 1:33 PM
CWK is supporting CYHSY on their European tour shortly, this must be a dry-run type thing.
Posted by birdboy | January 24, 2007 1:38 PM
boo hoo... i'm told old to stay up late... cry me a river... save the $10 you'd save on a ticket and buy yourself another throw pillow.
Posted by Anonymous | January 24, 2007 2:13 PM
Hey no response yet, for those extra tix, whats the deal. Give a dog a bone?
Posted by Jp | January 24, 2007 2:19 PM
12:30am IS a late start time for a show. cry me a river because your trust-funded ass doesn't have to get up for work the next day.
Posted by cranky | January 24, 2007 2:21 PM
Ya I got an extra...an extra nut sack for ya'll to suck on!
(sorry i couldn't resist)
Rock on mutha fuckas!

Wow, you pegged it, trust fund. if only you knew. some of us just don't care about our necessary 7 hours of sleep. get it back on the weekend. oh wait, i'm sorry, you'll be at pianos or revolver drinking apple martinis.
Posted by Anonymous | January 24, 2007 2:35 PM
I'm so proud to be a part of this great humanistic community.
Posted by Anonymous | January 24, 2007 2:48 PM
wow, two shitty bands in the same night!
Posted by Anonymous | January 24, 2007 2:59 PM
wait, are you saying there aren't appletinis available at merc ? if so i might have to reconsider my ticket purchase....
Posted by Anonymous | January 24, 2007 3:05 PM
Saw CYHSY at seaport back when they were good.
The NYE show was one of the worst shows I have ever seen by anyone. Clearly too wasted to give a damn about putting on a decent show. It was a disaster. Don't be fooled by the venue, they gave up caring about their fans a while ago.
Posted by MDK | January 24, 2007 3:14 PM
Anyone remember Tuna-tinis? Delicious.
Posted by jerry | January 24, 2007 3:15 PM
get with it people. illinois are the best band playing mercury lounge tonight. hands down.
Posted by Anonymous | January 24, 2007 3:23 PM
"CYHSY . . . gave up caring about their fans a while ago."
Sadly this is too true. It will be their major downfall as they try to outlast their peers. Their "we don't give a shit if people like us or not" stance is seeped in inflated ego and nearsightedness. And it all starts with their lead singer, of this there is no doubt.
And what the FUCK is up with the lead track on the new album?!? It sounds like something got screwed up at the CD manufacturing plant! Horrible way to open a record. Hell, horrible recording to put on a record!
Posted by Morris C. | January 24, 2007 3:59 PM
do they sell tuna-tinis at the mercury lounge? i have to get myself one of those.
Posted by Anonymous | January 24, 2007 4:29 PM
if they "gave up" on their fans, why put on this surprise show after midnight, for only $10.
the new years show was disappointing, but their spring show at bowery was a great time.
Posted by Anonymous | January 24, 2007 4:39 PM
sold out? well, not right now it's not.
Posted by Anonymous | January 24, 2007 4:51 PM
CWK=Yay
CYHSY=Nay
Posted by matt | January 24, 2007 4:57 PM
sold out...
Posted by Anonymous | January 24, 2007 5:02 PM
back on sale a minute ago...
Posted by Anonymous | January 24, 2007 5:22 PM
souuuuuld out again!
Posted by Anonymous | January 24, 2007 5:41 PM
"back on sale a minute ago..."
is this someone messing with everyone?
Posted by Anonymous | January 24, 2007 5:45 PM
Just keep trying.
It's likely from people that got tickets earlier but their credit cards were rejected.
Posted by Anonymous | January 24, 2007 5:48 PM
Got 1 ticket for tonite!
Posted by Jp | January 24, 2007 6:03 PM

That's right too old, have been to tons of midnight shows (even recently, ryan adams over the summer on A FRIDAY), but some of us have jobs, lives, families and just can't keep going to these things as much as we used to, plus for us it's played out already you can still have your fun, yes I am crying river have some sympathy. I like this band and Alec solo and a 7:30 spot is ideal for us working folk, try it sometime cry me a river, or maybe you are just waking up or sleeping at your desk being non-productive or are at your no-show PA job or you have a DJ gig later this evening and have a different schedule.
Anyway I completely agree about the first track on this album. When I got the early download from Insound I asked whether there was something wrong with the transfer to mp3, that song, through a set of headphones is unlistenable, who ever engineered that cut needs to find another line of work, or the band should spend some cash on a real engineer. The rest of the album ain't bad sounds like a watered down Remain in Light influence and a slight departure from the original guitar work (which was their hook)
These guys are good, they just have to get a little more serious, it's weird because Alec solo gigs seem much more genuine, throughout and serious than his main band. It's to early for CYHSY to be mailing in shows.
