"EMI merges Capitol and Virgin labels in U.S"

"EMI Group, the third largest music company in the world, said on Thursday it is merging its Capitol and Virgin record labels in the U.S. to create The Capitol Music Group........EMI, like other major music companies, is restructuring to cope with the move of music sales from the dominant physical format of CDs to digital music downloads through personal computers and mobile phones." Why does this stuff keep happening? Nobody stops these mergers, and we feel helpless because of them. And Interpol, I love them, how can this be? This really is terrible news. I bet the companies would love to all merge and become one giant, hideous, all-consuming body.
But I'm inherently troubled by any small number of people possessing all the power.
