For those not following along, Largehearted Boy brings us this list of interesting CD releases every week....

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah's sophomore album, Some Loud Thunder, sees its official release date today. EPs from Beirut, the Love of Diagrams, and Lavender Diamond round out the discs that I plan to pick up tomorrow for myself.

For my friends with children, Rockabye Baby! Lullaby Renditions of The Ramones will find its way into birthday and care packages throughout the year (as will the similar disc of U2 lullaby tunes).

some loud thunder is the best record so far this year. give it the chance it deserves - it's in the same league as Kid A

youth group's record is the best you could buy out of this bunch. an outstanding album.

the new cyhsy album is complete rubbish. they rushed the album because of so much hype and they should learn from a band like arcade fire that you need at least two years to get together to make a "great album". to be a great artist you need to have the ability to make solid albums year after year. the most recent person i can say who has done this is Beck.

RZA's "Afro Samurai" soundtrack is out this week. I can't say I'm all too thrilled about the new release from the "it" band of the moment, er, CYHSY.

Some Loud Thunder is already the worst album of the year. The word suck does not come close to describing this crap.

i think some loud thunder is good too but, the same league as Kid A??? are you high?????

Posted by george | January 29, 2007 3:01 PM

look at all the idiots who don't get it....it's so cute.

Posted by Anonymous | January 29, 2007 3:02 PM

you might not think it's as GOOD as Kid A, but it's at least in that league - an absolute home run of a departure.

Kid A is a really groundbreaking album if you forgot to listen to music from approximately 1985-2000. Clap Your Hands Say Douchebag!

another brooklynvegan poster with poor reading comprehension? who would've thought?

i wrote "an absolute home run of a departure.". get it? probably not, but that's why you don't get Some Loud Thunder either....you're just not smart.

At least it's better than the first album, still not great though.

Compared to the Shins' new record, the new CYH is a fucking masterpiece.

Which isn't saying much because the new Shins album SUCKS soooo bad! They had so long to come up with at least a very good record--instead they dropped a below-average wank.

Posted by eggshells | January 29, 2007 3:55 PM

Agreed. For a band of the Shins' caliber, the album is stunningly mediocre and even makes a few forays into awful.

Wow... apparently anyone who doesn't like the latest from CYHSY isn't smart, is an idiot, etc. Are you people on their street team or just friends?

Posted by Anonymous | January 29, 2007 4:26 PM

I think that the real question here is:
Will the blipsters like it?

new release to buy: Mancino - "Manners Matter"

I liked Some Loud Thunder, but it seemed to get a little too far off track for me at some points, and some songs never really hit their mark. I think this weeks best release would probably be either Alright, Still or RoadKillOverCoat. As for the worst, I really didn't get There's No 666 In Outer Space. It was mind-numbingly repetitive. But RoadKillOverCoat is excellent. Of course, Busdriver will probably stay just as under appreciated as he is now. You gotta hate seeing guys like him go unnoticed while all the other "hip-hop artists" earn millions for writing a song that Busdriver could run circles aroud. I guess thats just the way things are, eh?

Whew... this Lily Allen record is a flaming piece of garbage. I tried to listen with an open mind, and maybe I just don't "get it," but how, again, is this any different than Kelly Clarkson? Because she's British and she swears from time to time? Please.

What about Katharine McPhee's debut album!!!!!!!
