Reunion mania - more Police details + Jesus & Mary Chain, Rage, Crowded House, Dio & David Lee Roth ++ new Wu-Tang album, Dinosaur Jr...James
DOWNLOAD: Stars - Reunion (MP3)
The Police @ CBGB (VIA)

"The Police will rehearse for their upcoming reunion tour at Lions Gate Studios in Vancouver, according to reports today (Jan. 25) by the city's classic rock radio station, CFMI. Details of the summer trek, the band's first in more than two decades, will be announced next month. In addition, the Police are strongly rumored to be performing as part of the opening segment of the Grammy telecast on Feb. 11...." [Billboard]
Everyone also seems to think/hope the Police might play Coachella and/or Bonnaroo. It didn't help matters when the Coachella presale password ended up being "Roxanne". So far they aren't playing Coachella. If they did - are they enough to get you to go to the festival? Or are the reunions of Rage Against the Machine, Crowded House, and Jesus & Mary Chain good enough? Or is it all about Arcade Fire, Bjork, and Mika (yes, he's playing too)?
How bad would you want to go to a 2nd Jesus & Mary Chain show?
Are you more psyched for Dio (Black Sabbath) or David Lee Roth (Van Halen)? I'm a little scared to see David Lee Roth get on stage actually, and I'll probably keep my Black Sabbath Ozzy style. I think I'll leave Dio to the D too:
Did I mention the new Wu-Tang Clan album?
What about a new Dinosaur Jr album?

I would love to see that 2nd Jesus and Mary Chain show. I saw them on the stoned and dethroned tour and they were amazing imo.
Also on the reunion tip the Sun is reporting that Led Zepplin might be getting back together.

shit if Led Zeppelin gets back together I will sell my soul to go to that show/go completely broke with all these reunion shows, smashing pumpkins, the cure, the police, van halen, rage, jesus and mary chain, etc.

I know they already reunited once back in the 90's but I want The Velvet Underground to reunite. Weren't they suppose to a few years and perform at Coachella? I'm pretty sure I'd read that somewhere.
I also would kill to see The Housemartins reunite.
And of course The Smiths...but of course that for sure will never happen.

"I know they already reunited once back in the 90's but I want The Velvet Underground to reunite. "
Sterling Morrison died after the reunion. No reunion for them.
And The Cure never broke up.

Well, Lou & Mo COULD get back together with John Cale, and then see what Doug Yule is up to...plus, all of the guys where were in the VU after Lou left...
Posted by Wallis | January 26, 2007 9:06 AM
Sorry, it's still bad logic: Yule replaced Cale, not Morrison.
A VU reunion won't happen again.

Led Zeppelin reunion tour w/ Jason Bonham rumors come around every 7 years or so. So far nothing's happened except for the few one-off sets at Live Aid, Atlantic's 40th Anniversary, and the R&R Hall of Fame induction, but on a whole, they've all been horrendous failures. But you take what you can get when it comes to a Zeppelin reunion, even if it's crap.
But who knows, maybe it'll actually happen this time. Reunion tours are the hot ticket right now, and it doesn't seem to matter if you're missing an original member. I saw Queen+Paul Rogers a couple years ago and it was excellent. One of the best shows I've ever been to.
I thought Van Halen reuniting was the hell-freezes-over reunion of the decade, but if Zeppelin gets back together, I'll fucking sell my soul for a ticket to that show.

if zeppelin reunion is true i will sell everything for a ticket (my soul included) to see the biggest band ever.

So, anyone else happen to catch these incredibly delusional, self-righteous comments from Tom Morello regarding the RATM reunion?
"Is it coincidence that in the seven years that Rage Against the Machine has been away that the country has slid into right-wing purgatory? I think not," he said. "It occurred to all of us that the times were right to see if we can knock the Bush administration out in one fell swoop, and we hope to do that job well. This administration has done enough damage that it may take generations to undo. This is an administration that believes it's beyond the laws of the land, which is fine for emperors, but not so great for presidents. One thing this president isn't above is the laws of physics, and there is no action without reaction. And we're part of that reaction."

"The Police have confirmed they will be holding a press conference and making a very special announcement after their performance Grammy Awards ceremony.
The conference takes place at Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, the day after they return to the stage at the Grammys.
It will kick off at 11am local time and will be beamed by satellite around the globe.
Concert promoters Live Nation will be hosting the conference, so it is widely assumed that the announcement will have something to do with a world tour.
