I'm trying to decide if this is worth going to. I haven't seen the band before, although I've heard only bad things about the live show. Anyone wanna help?

don't bother. i like the albums but live they are uninspiring at best.

studio band all the way.

I completely disagree. The Shins are very energetic and funny in a smaller setting (saw them twice at the Bowery Ballroom). The new album is pretty awful, though.

You must of been the only person left standing at the boowery show then.

How are Camera Obscura live? I've heard both good and bad things about their show, and I'm wondering whether it'd be worth it to let a scalper take advantage of me :(

the shins are amazing live. i saw them at a huge basketball arena at Univ. of Washington and their sound and personality came through with every song. the new album rivals their best work and could very well be their white album. the shins are the rarest of the indie rock breed.

I've seen the Shins back in 2000 when they were opening up for Modest Mouse and had no albums out. They were very good. The also opened from them in late 2001, and it wasn't bad. Never seen them after that.
