Smashing Pumpkins announce 2 Germany shows

JaI totally forgot to mention the Smashing Pumpkins in my reunion post yesterday, though someone did mention them in the comments.

Billboard just announced that The Smashing Pumpkins have announced two shows in Germany.

This is pretty exciting news. I am really hoping some North American dates are unveiled soon

I psyched to see them, although we don't know who's in the band other than Corgan & Jimmy Chamberlin. I'm guessing that Melissa Auf Der Maur will rejoin as bassist--D'Arcy is almost definitely still MIA--and that James Iha won't rejoin. It will be interesting to see who takes his role.

If anyone hasn't heard of Machina II, it was the album they released for free after their "final" album Machina (2000). They pressed 50 LPs for friends with instructions to distribute the music freely, so there are various versions of MP3s out there. You can download one set here http://www.archive.org/details/machina2 and the next time you want to pay tribute to James Brown, check out their version of "Soul Power."
