stream Menomena's Friend and Foe
DOWNLOAD: Menomena - Wet & Rusting (MP3)

Menomena (MaNa MaNa) put out one of this week's interesting releases. Pitchfork thinks it is very interesting. Stylus gave it a B+.
Decide for yourself. Stream Friend and Foe in its entirety. See Menomena on tour with the recently signed Land of Talk, and Field Music (who also came out with a CD this week).

this record sucks. i really got the whole "trying" too hard impression the entire time.....it's like they're winking at us throughout with this whole "you'll definitely like it if we do this! (*cue horns)" type attitude . It's just not honest at all.
Not to mention most songs seem like they're simply a mixture of 4 or 5 other band's idea's at once. I won't go as far as to call foul on stealing, but jesus, they sure aped a lot of stuff.
menomena = suck

I'm a big fan of this album. Better than Blame Monster in my opinion.

This album is fucking brilliant.

it's excellent. sonically brilliant and fun. it comes off as completely genuine to me. the first commenter needs to defend his/her statements with some examples of just who they're 'ripping off'. and i'd like to hear just which bands he/she defends as 'orignal'. truth be told, most every band out there has one if not multiple reference points. the strokes are a rip off band. tapes n tapes are a rip off band. i think menomena are synthesizing and making something fresh.

Menamena is a Phenamena. I'd like to slap the first post in back of the head. Hey bud, "everything has been done". How do you get the balls to say that this isn't an honest offering? Give these young lads some credit. This is a classic indie album that will be on all "best of list for 07".
They blessed us with their debut and now this. "Friend or Foe" delivers on every level. In today's - fast paced - 2 minute attention span - everthing influences everything world, Menomena use everthing around them to create an accurate reflection of the world we live in. Lets slow down and enjoy.

This album is fantastic, better than Fun Blame Monster (which I thought impossible). The more I listen, the further I am drawn into their world. Brilliant!!
